[edit] Your VandalProof Application

Dear Pilover819,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel→♦ 05:33, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sum of cubes equals square of sum

The stated identity is an immediate consequence of the fact that $\sum_{k=1}^n k^3 = 1/4 n^2 (n+1)^2$ and $\sum_{k=1}^n k = 1/2 n (n+1)$. I don't have a reference at hand where the identity is stated, but I'm pretty sure it has been observed before. Sorry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ==130.149.15.224 (talk) 16:03, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Nice to know. Do you have any proof of the observance? That would be nice. Weatherlover819 (talk) 06:40, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Both relations can be easily proved by induction. Most probably you find them as examples or exercises in any maths book that explains induction proofs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.149.15.224 (talk) 12:57, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Okay... I meant, "Who discovered it?". I am sure there's proof, but I need actual proof by a professional; unless YOU are. Weatherlover819 (talk) 04:13, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Never mind. Weatherlover819 (talk) 04:14, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User talk:Titoxd

Just wondering why you deleted so much from this other user's talk page. Wanted to ask before I simply reverted it. Let me know. Thanks. Jasynnash2 (talk) 10:42, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

I archived it. Weatherlover819 (talk) 11:07, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Not sure we are meant to be archiving other people's talk pages but, as long as he/she can easily get it back I won't fret over it. It just looked a bit "weird" at the time. Jasynnash2 (talk) 12:01, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure I wrote something on the talk page. It was more than 150 KB! Too long for a user talk page. Weatherlover819 (talk) 22:43, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Halong

If you know the history of post-2000 TC naming, you'd know that the Hong Kong Observatory built the first website ([1]) collecting the etymology and sound files from contributing countries. JMA's site came later and the "meaning" column is an abbreviated version of the full explanation contained in the HKO site. If you just read down every name, it is obvious that you cannot always apply the rule "(Name) means (meaning) in (contributing country's) language." Biographical and geographical names are not the same as genuine "words" from a "language". Vietnam's "Halong" is just like Hong Kong's "Kai-tak", "Lionrock" and FSM's "Nanmadol". They are something, but they don't mean anything. Etymology of the these names belong to the other articles (e.g. Kai Tak Airport, Lion Rock, Nan Madol). HkCaGu (talk) 10:09, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Countless season and storm articles do not strictly follow JMA's site. JMA is not the only authority on proclaiming name meanings. It was HKO who suggested the post-2000 naming scheme, and thy were tasked to compile the meanings. Look at the logic: Matmo doesn't "mean" heavy rain in the United States. It is only more clear to say Matmo, a name submitted by the United States, means heavy rain in Chamorro, a language native to islands belonging to the United States. The meaning of Matmo is heavy rain, but you wouldn't know what language it's from unless you look at HKO. (Given that Matmo is a replacement, the original document is the Typhoon Committee meeting record.) All I want to say is that we can't use JMA and only JMA. HkCaGu (talk) 10:27, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

JMA is the RSMC in charge of warning storms. Typhoon Committee manages the names, the meanings, and all that. From there, HKO provides more complete information while JMA doesn't in terms of names. Here at Wikipedia, we don't seek ultimate "officialness" in all things. UN (and ESCAP, and Typhoon Committee) says "Micronesia", but we say "Federated States of Micronesia" (or at least wikilink that way) because of disambiguation issues. (Other examples: South Korea, North Korea.) The name table is listed in official UN terminology just because it's the table, but the wikilinks point "elsewhere". HkCaGu (talk) 10:37, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

I must admit Wiki's coverage of this season W PAC typhoon season is awful... plenty of articles which could classify for an extra article but i can't do it. Can you help meh BOBBY (=

(Ipswich Weather Center/Mit5000) Itfc+canes=me (talk) 20:10, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Do you actually think they need articles? You know, Neoguri's article came out just because it caused 3 deaths and 40 missing. Rammasun could have an article, because it became a super typhoon. I don't see why Matmo should have an article.

If you want to create the articles, start your sandbox. To start your sandbox, make a subpage. It could be User:Itfc+canes=me/Sandbox1 or User:Itfc+canes=me/Rammasun, etc. Weatherlover819 (talk) 22:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Requested moves

I want to move this page back to where it belongs; as I accidentally (by not knowing that) moved the page to User:Pilover819 - introduction. I followed "User:itfc+canes=me - drawing page". Please, can you move this back as soon as possible? Weatherlover819 (talk) 09:47, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I just moved it back, if you need anything from the deleted history of your user page, just let me know. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 16:40, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hey

Hey, I noticed you made a couple edits to my sandbox. I appreciate you're trying to help, and more comments are welcome. Thanks, Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 18:56, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. Weatherlover819 (talk) 22:38, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Arthur 2008 track.png

Hi Pilover819, I don't use a track map generator. I simply have a coastline world map from here. Additionally, I colour the map and I add some points according with the latitude and longitude using a image editor. It's just that. (my grammar was poor because English isn't my native language - I'm from Brazil) -Ramisses (talk) 17:37, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I use any image editor. It's almost a 'child drawing'. -Ramisses (talk) 23:27, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
As simple as Paint. -Ramisses (talk) 17:12, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Comments

Two points. Firstly, is there any need for all the mathematical information on your page? and secondly could you not use wikipedia for placing a blog. Our rules prohibit blogging and extended personal essays (unless related to wikipedia). Ironholds 16:42, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

First of all, I stopped putting on blogs since May 29; and second, this is my user page. None of the rules say I can't put all the mathematical information. Math is my favorite subject, if you saw my username. That's why my username is Pilover819. Weatherlover819 (talk) 22:44, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
