A Devilish Homicide

Hi, PC78. Nice start on A Devilish Homicide! One thing-- I notice you've used a DVD cover in the infobox. I like to use original posters if I can find them. Not only for historical accuracy, but because I like to see the advertising and artwork from the older eras. I haven't found a really good image for this film, but did find THIS black & white copy of the poster. I hope you won't mind if I put that in the Infobox, and move your DVD image down to a new "Availability" section which describes the DVD release? Cheers, and happy editing! Dekkappai (talk) 18:39, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks-- I'll add the poster as soon as I can start a section on the DVD release. I found the image by plugging in the hangeul at the search function in mydvdlist. I have this and another site listed as good places to search for images here: User:Dekkappai/Tools/Korea. I think I saw some color versions of the poster on the Web, but they all had ugly website URLs pasted on the top. Maybe we can go with this b&w image until a better one turns up. I've also been frustrated with the KMDB site. Not only is it very difficult to search, they taunt you with these nice images, but, apparently, you have to be a member to view them. I wouldn't even know how to go about joining-- Appletrees might know... Thanks for noticing the work on Kim Ki-young. I'm hoping to get it up to GA quality. This is very much only a beginning-- I stopped at Housemaid, and sketched in a little bit after that point. Even before Housemaid still needs lots of work. But it's a start. Kim Ki-young

Hi, PC78. I'm about ready to submit Kim Ki-young for GA review. Have you been involved in that process? And if so, would you mind taking a look at the article for any major problems? Or maybe you know of someone who could give it a good preliminary going-over? One concern I have is that, for readability, I've grouped citations together at the ends of paragraphs. If this is a big problem, and they should instead be after the sentence, it won't take much time to fix that. Another is the article size/Filmography-- it's a bit long, but cutting out the filmography and putting it in a stand-alone article would probably fix that issue. Thanks in advance! Dekkappai (talk) 01:42, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks for the help and the comments, PC78. I'll take them all into consideration polish the article some more, and submit it later today. Regards. Dekkappai (talk) 17:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Changnyeong logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Changnyeong logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:52, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

AfD for Melissa Pastore Scott

Hi there. I wanted to let you know that I deleted the very first sentence of your comment in the AfD discussion concerning the subject based on WP:BLP concerns. There was a prior AfD based in large part on that exact issue here, and whether there were reliable sources to make such a claim. While I think that little harm is done since the allegation is all over the net (and if I were inclined to bet I would suspect it's true) if it turns out it's not true it's probably libel. For this reason I thought it best to strike the statement. I am very, very sorry to meddle with your comment, and would not do so under any other circumstances. If you choose to revert it, I won't change it again, although I probably would mention it at the BLP noticeboard to see if I'm overreacting. Thanks Xymmax (talk) 17:50, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Spider Forest images

Hi, PC78. You seem to be better acquainted with image rules than I am. (I routinely save/replace poster images, but have taken a mostly hands-off attitude to other images in the film articles.) Anyway, there are several Fair Use images at Spider Forest which have been put up for Speedy Deletion. Are any of them justifiable/saveable, do you think? And if so, would you be able to add the justification for their inclusion? Thanks! Dekkappai (talk) 20:49, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

OK-- thanks. I think a screenshot or two will be useful if there is ever a proper article on the film-- with analysis, etc. I haven't edited much at the article, and wanted to do this, but it's too new a film for any sort of literature to have been built up around it yet. You should seek it out if you enjoy unusual, but extremely well-done films. It's very sad and very dark, but inspiring in a way, the way that any really well-done work of art is... I think it's one of the best new films I've seen in a long, long time. Dekkappai (talk) 00:56, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Right, I personally think it's one of the finest new Korean films... I can't put that in the article though :( I've seen one other film by Song Il-gon-- Feathers in the Wind-- and it's in a very different genre (romantic comedy), but a similar directorial style can be seen. It's another of my favorite new Korean films. Based on these two movies, I consider Song my favorite new Korean director. Before I started on the Kim Ki-young article, I'd thought about trying to get Spider Forest up to GA status. But a review of the literature on it just didn't turn up enough, so I gave up. The article as it stood looked like a big copy & paste job that would have to be redone from scratch. Maybe later... Dekkappai (talk) 00:17, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Lana Turner

As I appreciate your opinion on the Lana Turner page. I have a stern belief that as fellow editors, before we undo something that someone put effot into, one should out of courtesy place a discussion about a possible revert on a talk page. Now, I had every intention of going onto the Lana Turner page and trying to bring it to a point of taking it to WP:GA status. When going there, one would much rather have such a long thing as a filmography to be shown on a sub page. I do not agree with your revert and I would appreciate in the future that if we come across each other, that we will talk before just doing needless reverts. I am sure I would give you that common courtesy as well! Canyouhearmenow 04:09, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate your response. One persons editing style may not always fit the likes of another editor. Hence, the reason we are all here. What you are unaware of is that I was contacted by an admin to go through Hollywood legends (bio) pages and cleanup and sub page filmography's, discography's and the likes in order to make the pages look more tidy. It really is of no importance of how long the page is on it's face. The important thing is to make the article as efficient as possible. That is my purpose and goal. I do fully understand what you are saying and far be it for me to state how you feel or what you look for in an article. But it is of no harm at all to put the filmography onto another page. I will tell you what I will do. I will leave it the way that it is and hopefully you will go in and spend some time on mainspace to edit the article and help bring it to a GA status. If you don't wish to do that and I have not seen anything done in 30 days, I will revert it back to the way I had it and I will continue on with my goal to get it to GA nomination. I think that is a fair split. Again, thank you Canyouhearmenow 17:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

South Korean films of 2007

Hi, good work on the article. You might want to indicate somewhere whether the list is comprehensive or not, ie. if there are still some films missing from it or not, so that others (like me) won't have to worry about it. And I'm asking you instead of checking myself since you probably know the answer already. If you based the article on the list from koreanfilm.org or kofic, it should be comprehensive for every theatrically released film. Thanks. - Bobet 14:29, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Strongarm

I know what he said. There was (and still isn't, as far as I'm aware) not a list of characters to merge this article into. When an AfD is closed as a merge, it is not the responsiblity of the closing administrator to perform the merge. Indeed, it would probably not be wise; the regular administrator is not going to be knowledgeable on most fictional characters, and therefore will not be able to do a good merge. It is up to editors who are familiar with the subject matter to perform merges. Since there was a consensus to merge, the article should be redirected. However, there was no place existing to merge to. Until such a time as the article is created, there is nowhere more appropriate to redirect to than the show itself. The redirect that I put on the article does not preclude creation of a List of Characters page, and a subsequent retargeting of the redirect. But until such time as the article is created, it needs to be redirected somewhere; I see nowhere more appropriate than the show page. seresin | wasn't he just...? 02:57, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Gajeong Lu 1 City

I'm improving and sourcing the Gajeong Lu 1 City article. Please don't delete it. You could help guide me in improving it if you would like. DaronDierkes (talk) 06:25, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

The forum link that you clicked on before took you to the wrong area, I changed that link to something more relevant, and the offical website is not referenced, though the English version is covered in hangul and not too helpful. DaronDierkes (talk) 06:40, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
I moved the page to Incheon Inter City which is what the various promotional websites are calling it. I admit that it is still rather stubby. I am not sure where in Incheon it is supposed to be, or I would redirect it there like you redirected the Yonsei/Songdo project page. I assume that it must be in one of the three IFEZ areas, but it may be in Incheon proper. I'm not sure. DaronDierkes (talk) 09:16, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Aaron Michael Lacey research

I've beed digging through Google and even emailed the National Capital/Chesapeake Bay branch of the NATAS. It's been a week now with no confirmation or denial of the award. When the organization that allegedly gave out the award can't answer the question, then it's a good sign that it never happened. Not only that, it's a regional Emmy. The competition is only other stations in the DC/Chesapeake Bay area. The show in question aired on only one station. DarkAudit (talk) 14:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Can you help me create Korea related infoboxes?

I've always been bothered to see more than one concise infobox used on articles because of size difference and format. Unfortunately, I don't know how to modify a temple to adapt for Korean names (hangul, Revised Romanization, and MC..). We have {{Infobox Korean film}} which seems to be a guide for me to create Korean relate templates, but I fail. Can you fix tags in {{Template:Infobox Korean Museum}}? --Appletrees (talk) 00:17, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I tested the new template and it works fine.[9]. However, it does not look good at this status, I think I try to adjust font size and format a bit.--Appletrees (talk) 15:52, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I would not insert the new template to articles right now but your second option seems too much letters gathered at the top. I think, The English and Hangul title are enough at the area.[10] The Revised Romanization and McCune-Reischauer are just methods to transliterate/scribe Korean into English, so I think they can be hidden like the transliteration sections in {{Template:Chinese}} Currently, building related articles with any template are very a few, and I think we can make integrated template for museums, buildings, museum venues. Or we can get more opinion on this. --Appletrees (talk) 17:47, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Much better, but if hangul name is shown in default, it would be good. Anyway, we need a consensus among our community to adopt the new template. I appreciate your work. --Appletrees (talk) 19:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

User:Appletrees made a nice article -List of parks in Seoul. I tried to make a nice template for it - Template:Seoul Parks. It looks kind of terrible though. You are the template and navbox expert. Could you take a look at it?  :o) There's a weird spacing issue going on and I don't know why. I also wasn't sure how to link to the list article. Should it be in the title or in a see also section? Thanks. DaronDierkes (talk) 06:47, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 06:52, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Duplicate article

When I searched, I found red links. I couldn't find him. So I (re)wrote an article on him. I don't know why I couldn't find the old article but you did. Maybe some-body moved the article to one of the alternative spellings with-out making the appropriate changes (link redirects, spelling redirects).

Any-way, maybe the two versions combined can be made into one that's better than either. Kdammers (talk) 09:30, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

It is rude of you?????

You revert was contested, so the sentence was not settled material in our mutual agreement. More than one person object to your revert, so saying to me "how rude of you" is really absurd. Be civil.--Appletrees (talk) 10:18, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

It is so clear that you're not doing in good faith and civil toward not only YJS and otheres. So your preach does not make you warrant your action. I feel only sorry to see one good Korean editor leave. Although I nominated the site article for deletion, but people can make a mistake but you extend even more from him. I warned him not using sockpuppetry because that case was evident for protecting the site, but aside the case, you have been chasing down on his edit and assert that his edits are disruptive but I strongly disagree. I was only convinced that the 99..UK IP and one account named the site, not others you have accused. Your mention of rudeness and CIVIL card are also personal attacks against me. Those are not civil or from good faith. --Appletrees (talk) 14:37, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Still, I do no understand why you obsess with him. I do know that you have been a good contributor to Korean film project as well as YJS's edits on general Korean related articles. He left Wikipedia because he was on the corner. I was not kind to him and I'm the one who nominated the article for deletion. However, he did only mention you and the other editor, not others because he felts you're the key point for his leaving. You think the blame is absurd, but I partially agree with his opinion. Besides, you had not edited Korean history or company related articles, so my assumption on your following is neither uncivil nor bad faith. That is an observation.--Appletrees (talk) 14:51, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
How rude of you is not personal attack? I do think that is a clearly not a good sign of good faith nor civil act to the contrary of your speaking. I've not been following you at all because all articles which you edited as you following YJ are on my watch list and I've noticed your behaviors. Besides, don't you even forget that I'm a member of Korean film task force? Every time, you edit Korean film articles or any Korean related articles on my watch list shows your activities unlike your following him. I suggest you to stop spread false blame on me. --Appletrees (talk) 15:08, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I am not convinced that your recent behaviors are good because that is your OWN POV and you're not a judge for accusing my own opinion. Stop making false blames on me. I don't think your activity is really fit to good faith and helpful for the article in which we're disputed. --Appletrees (talk) 15:12, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
You accusing of my being uncivil on you is that I strongly disagree and is judgmental of your own. So that is POV and my mentioning the truth is neither "uncivil" nor bad faith. Everyone believe that they're right and fair editor fors Wikipedia but when conflicts happen with others, people think that others are not right and wrong. People have their own POV and you have yours, so why don't you stop making false blames on me? As for the rudeness related comment of yours, I waited you came up with your opinion for some period of time, then you quickly "REVERTed" to your preferred version which was no sign of your willingness to comprise or discuss the matter with me and the other. The accusation of me being rude is also nothing but a personal attack. So please stop to accuse me further. As what you keep saying that you're right and I'm uncivil is really unhelpful for anything.--Appletrees (talk) 15:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Not vandalism at all. He removed excessive WP:UNDUE descriptions on the article to balance. Your claim is solely based on the belief that you're right and YJ is a vandal having removed sourced contents. However, not every sourced materials are attached to Encyclopedia because Wikipedia is not a repository of collecting every news. --Appletrees (talk) 15:45, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Edit summary does not lie, of course, and the record of your quick revert remains as well. If you think that discussion is really needed first, you should've not reverted to your preferred version so quickly. If you stop adding your accusation, I would do the same as you accordingly. S Why don't you STOP???? I can't stand your unwarranted accusation and regard the discussion is reducing my time to edit articles. It is clear that we disagree on our opinion, and civility/good faith. You can't say to me you're being right unless you have a good logic for your claim. --Appletrees (talk) 15:55, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
As I said before, I've seen him edit Korean related articles for a long time, over months. So I'm sure I can guess his intention that easily without his edit summaries. South Korea, Seoul, Samsunng or many important Korean related articles that he edited are on my watch list for a log time as well. So I think his removal of some contents is not vandalism unlike you accuse of.--Appletrees (talk) 16:00, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
You don't even realize that you keep attacking and accusing me of how rude and uncivil I am on which I strongly disagree. You also said that I'm following you that looks like a retaliation to my speaking of your "following YJ". I'm not the only one who thinks such. Your assumption on my defending for his edit on Samsung is unlikely a good faith. Let's face it. You and I have own POV and have defended ourselves respectively and disagree with the issues that each other brought up so far. So I consider this discussion is less healthy and unlikely being 'resolved" by us. So I keep asking you stop more accusation on which I ever would not agree --Appletrees (talk) 16:19, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I have not said that he has been "always" a good editor but "generally a good editor" to "Korean related articles" with my mention of "putting aside from the AFD incident". --Appletrees (talk) 16:24, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I do not understand why you want to keep this discussion with me. You mention of my judgment on his edits on Samsung was made without his edit summaries makes me think of your accusation coming not from good faith. I do not still think that his removal of some contents is vandalism as you asserted. Your saying that I may intended to be uncivil against you is really not a good faith comment. You object to your behaviors to be called "following YJ" and claim that is just checking the alleged disruptions by him. But in my eyes, it looks as such due to the abovementioned reasons. So we just confirm that we would hardly ever agree with YJ's related matters. So why don't we stop talking the matter?--Appletrees (talk) 17:43, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Pusan International Film Festival

I made some changes to the Pusan Film Festival article. I'm not sure which direction to go with it though. I've separated the awards out. They could just as easily be placed under the years in question though. It could be possible to eventually make pages for each of the award categories as some of them have been around for a good ten years or more, which would be easier with the approach that I have started. I'm under the impression that this is in your interest area. I'll work on it off and on. Should it really be similar to the Cannes Film Festival or the Sundance Film Festival? I'm also a little confused about the wikipedia preference for Korean names. No hyphen, right? The article for Film festival doesn't mention the PIFF either, but I don't want to make any uncalled for edits. I'd be interested in your opinion. It might be better to respond on the PIFF talk page. Ttangkkeut

Ttangkkeut or Ddangkkeut, I'm just curious as to how you get to know the location. Well, my writing ability is limited and actually I have not been to anywhere near to Jeollanam-do, so the place is pretty much unknown to me. I just attached several English sources, so if you care the stub or subject, you can expand it with the sources. And I think the Korean project needs some guide on to-do list and noticeboard. I think listing uncreated entries forever does not seem right. Any idea on this?--Appletrees (talk) 21:19, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, a matter of the conflict between the keepiest and deletioniests? Well, I think the noticeboard and the main page of the Korean project can be merged to integrate and to draw participants' attention at one place. I think the collapsible bar on the right is not easy to access as well. --Appletrees (talk) 18:50, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Your monobook.

Replied here. Cheers, · AndonicO Engage. 10:15, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

I think it's part of the MediaWiki coding. Can't be changed unless it affects all monobook pages. · AndonicO Engage. 11:34, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, Andonic. I just happened to be sleeping when you asked me. bibliomaniac15 20:53, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

marmite

Hey, just out of curiosity, can you briefly describe the taste of marmite? I ate some sandwich with spread very unique flavor and dark brown color. It is definitely not made of chocolate but has somewhat a sweat and savory taste. I heard it yeast wastes (from my friend) but I wonder whether it is marmite or not. (I want to buy it even if it would take an airmail order) You seem to be a British, so I'm writing this. Could you do me a favor? Thanks. :)--Appletrees (talk) 01:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I can't believe that you have not tried it though (it looks very popular in the country). Okay, I'm gonna ask the question to another Brit. Thanks anyway.--Appletrees (talk) 01:30, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
