Nachiketa Sharma (Kannada:??, Devanagari:नचिकेत, IAST: Naciketā) is a Hindustani Classical vocalist in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hailing from Dharwad, Karnataka, Shri Nachiketa Sharma was initiated into Hindustani classical vocal music by his parents at the age of 12. His formal study began in Madras under Shri B. N. Simha and later under Shri B. Hanumantachar. His rigorous and extended pedagogy came under the virtuoso, late Padmabhushan Pandit Basavraj Rajguru. Nachiketa Sharma has extensively performed in cities across India and the United States. He runs the Rajguru Sangeet Vidya Niketan, a school of music in the loving memory of his guru in Cupertino, California, a school for both adults and kids, bridging the gap between non-resident Indians and Indian culture and music. Nachiketa Sharma is also a senior teacher at the Sangeetaanjali College of Music.
A day in the Vidyaniketan begins with students arriving and, in keeping with tradition, first paying obeisance to the statue of Saraswati, the goddess of learning and music that adorns the classroom. A thorough teacher, Nachiketa does not start with just a song or bandish in a particular raga. He describes the raga that the students will learn with notations, exercises, and detailed information like chalan, pakad, samay, similar ragas, and tops it with a discussion of each and every word of the bandish and their meaning, highlighting the literary interpretation of the bandish, the mood, the aesthetics, and its historical or mythological significance. For example, a bandish by Pt. Ramashreya jha, a littérateur and composer, would entail a full discussion of his poetry before it is sung. He also teaches the tala (music) and the tabla bols for each particular tala, important information for students to be able to synchronize beats with their singing. So, the student's learning here is manifold and not restricted to just music. It is an amalgamation of the language and literature with the theory and practice of the raga or music he teaches.
