I'm very sorry, my immature friend played a prank on me while I was away, please forgive him.Monbro 18:49, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

No problem - but think of what else he could have done to your unguarded PC, e.g. introduced a virus, deleted your documents, etc. Now, that is _your_ problem. Ian Cairns 21:00, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Criteria for Speedy Deletion

Helo.

I am currently newpage patrolling on wikipedia. I know how to do:

db-bio db-nonsense

Could you assist me with others?

e.g.

One that says:

fake object biased deletion etc.

Not just speedy deletion but all those thing you put at the top e.g.-this is breaking news

THanks a lot Monbro 19:47, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

You might want to take a quick look at my page: User:Icairns/edit
This gives many of the currently available options. If you find one displayed in an article that is not mentioned, then edit the article to find the template involved. However, you would need to investigate the template to find its usage before employing. You are aware that most templates are subst'ed to avoid linking?

  • Autoblock lifted. Consider password protecting your computer. If persistant vandalism comes from your IP address, your computer or your account, access to Wikipedia will be automatically shut off. Then you will be unable to appeal the block, let alone edit. So a password to your computer (and a new one to Wikipedia, your bank and your email would be good security too) are well advised. ЯEDVERS 19:29, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi there. May I suggest that you re-visit this page, which is virtually incomprehensible? If you use the "show preview" button at the foot of the text page after writing but before saving an article, this sort of thing will not occur.--Anthony.bradbury 20:30, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Zackspace.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Zackspace.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:51, 3 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ccwaters 12:51, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IP tracing

Comments like that make feel all warm and fuzzy for reverting vandalism :). Though it's no problem, really. So far, I've reverted hundreds of vandalism edits. As for your IP tracing, I doubt you'll be able to find out who did it. Using WHOIS on the IP gets us the information that the user is using Energis UK (now Cable & Wireless) as an ISP. Geolocating the IP tells us London, though that you probably knew already. Reverse DNS returns "user-5447afce.wfd87b.dsl.pol.co.uk". It won't help you much though. Your best bet is asking his ISP who was using that IP at that particular time, but I strongly doubt they would just give you the information.

Aside from that, there isn't anything else you could do to find out more.

Cheers. -- Xompanthy 12:48, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Jwansey.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Mrwanseyonstairs.JPG. The copy called Image:Mrwanseyonstairs.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 17:47, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Cros2.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cros2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 17:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Crosfieldslogo.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Crosfieldslogo.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 09:44, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] John Danieli

A tag has been placed on John Danieli, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Schutz 07:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Daniel Lamont (Halian politician)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Daniel Lamont (Halian politician), by Iceshark7 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Daniel Lamont (Halian politician) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Daniel Lamont (Halian politician), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 10:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Articles for Deletion discussions for Prime_Minister_of_Halia and Prime_Minister_of_New_Toulouse

I've nominated the following articles for a deletion discussion. These can be found at:

Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Prime_Minister_of_Halia Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Prime_Minister_of_New_Toulouse

I don't see these articles notable in any way, which is the reason I listed those for discussion. If you would like to comment, feel free to hop in. ~Iceshark7 10:29, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion for Alfred Mesijakabiche

A tag has been placed on Alfred Mesijakabiche, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- ~Iceshark7 10:34, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

I've also done that for Liberal Party of Halia. Unfortunately, Wikipedia is not a repository of every piece of information found, and articles must suit the guideline of Notability. ~Iceshark7 10:45, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Halia

Hi Monbro. Your "Halia" articles about a state you made up have all been deleted from Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not the place for things you have made up. Please do not add them again. You may find Wikipedia:Don't create hoaxes interesting; are there any other articles you have created on people or places you have made up? Neil  11:11, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Monbro, please see WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider, social networking, or memorial site.
Particularly, note points 1 and 2, which state Wikipedia is not for:
  1. Personal web pages. Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they may be used only to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia. If you are looking to make a personal webpage or blog, please make use of one of the many free providers on the Internet. The focus of user pages should not be social networking, but rather providing a foundation for effective collaboration.
  2. File storage areas. Please upload only files that are used (or will be used) in encyclopedia articles or project pages; anything else will be deleted. If you have extra relevant images, consider uploading them to the Wikimedia Commons, where they can be linked from Wikipedia.
The page you are creating at User:Monbro/Sandbox has no encyclopaedic value. Wikipedia is a chartiy, and its servers are meant for content that is either encyclopedic, or is being used to the encyclopedia. There are many free web and/or wiki providers on the internet - for example, Wikia - that you could use to create as much information on your fictional country, Halia, as you like. I will give you a few days to look into where and how you would like to do this before I will be deleting your sandbox. I hope you understand why. Please get back to me if you have any questions. Neil  11:23, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Monbro. To use Wikia, go to www.wikia.com and follow their instructions. It works much the same as Wikipedia does. And I found the articles by looking at your contributions (Special:Contributions/Monbro). Neil  11:06, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Scott Newton (Mississippi politician)

I have nominated Scott Newton (Mississippi politician), an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Scott Newton (Mississippi politician). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. -- ALLSTARecho 23:30, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
