Ministry of Environment and Forests (India)

The Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests is a cabinet ministry in the Government of India, and is responsible for the planning, promotion, co-ordination and overseeing the implementation of environmental and forestry programmes in the country.
The main activities undertaken by the ministry include conservation and survey of the flora of India, the fauna of India, forests, and other wilderness areas; prevention and control of pollution; afforestation and the regeneration of degraded areas and protection of the environment within the framework of Indian legislations. It is responsible for the administration of the National Parks of India.
