The Mayhem festival is a new touring metal and rock festival to take place during July and August. The festival is expected to be a yearly event, in the vein of Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest or Korn's Family Values tour. The difference between Ozzfest and Mayhem festival being that Ozzfest will host more metal bands and Mayhem Festival will host more Top 40 hard rock bands[1]. For the first year at least, the Rockstar Mayhem tour will be sponsored by the Rockstar energy drink. It is being assembled by Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, and by John Reese (who is Lyman's partner on the Taste of Chaos tour[2]).
JÄGERMEISTER Director of Strategic Marketing Rick Zeiler, “Jägermeister has long been looking for a tour like Mayhem. We have this beautiful new million-dollar Jägermeister Mobile Stage and see no better place to roll it out than Mayhem with some of the biggest rock and metal bands in the world. This tour has integrity, value and most importantly...loyalty! Working with Kevin Lyman and John Reese has been great.”[3]

[edit] Additional Tour Information
Mayhem festival, like most large festivals of a similar caliber, feature bands that recently released or are just about to release a new album. All of the main stage headliners will be promoting their new albums on this tour, as well as some of the second and third stage bands like 36 Crazyfists and Underoath.
In addition to catching their favorite bands live, fans can take part in a number of festival activities, including playing the newest video games, perusing vendors, attending autograph signing sessions and a slew of other interactive activities that will add to the festival experience.[5]
ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK will be sampling their products and providing great surprises for attendees. Additional sponsors include Jägermeister, HOT TOPIC and The DiNGSTORE.com (Device Personalization Company). FUSE Television and Revolver Magazine (who will produce the Official Tour Program) have signed on as official Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival media partners. Live Nation is set to promote the festival nationally.[6]
Also joining the tour is the world famous Metal Mulisha freestyle motocross team. In the press release regarding the tour, a founding member of the Metal Mulisha and freestyle rider named Brian Deegan was quoted saying "They’ll be mixing the sound of riffing and ripping 250CC motorcycles flying 150 feet in the air against the backdrop of double bass drums and shredding guitars."[7]
[edit] Sevendust Pulls Out of Tour
Sevendust has pulled out of its participation in this summer's inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival, according to Blabbermouth.net. A statement released by the band indicated that it canceled its involvement in the tour "If they had given us more money, we would've been able to do it" Sevendust has recently announced that they will be headlining a tour this summer with Saliva. The Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival, featuring headliners Disturbed, Dragonforce, and Slipknot, is scheduled to kick off on July 9th in Seattle and will hit 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada between early July and late August.
It is now official that Sevendust has joined on the competing Ozzfest. Also on the bill is Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Serj Tankian etc. Sevendust has been replaced by Underoath.
