[edit] Route description
The highway follows Rowe Boulevard into the city limits and the one-way pair of Rowe Boulevard and Bladen Street in downtown Annapolis. It provides a direct connection between the Maryland State House in downtown Annapolis and U.S. 50/U.S. 301, one of the main freeways through the Annapolis area.
Despite the presence of Interstate 70 in Maryland, the number has remained in use since its designation; other duplications between Interstate numbers and state route numbers also exist elsewhere in the state.

[edit] Notes
MD 70's interchange with U.S. 50/U.S. 301 marks the end of the unsigned Interstate 595, which overlaps with U.S. 50 between the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495) and MD 70.
