Marianne Cruz Gonzalez was born in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
She participated in the 2007 Miss Dominican Republic beauty pageant. Despite her popularity, and her being the favorite candidate during the competition, Marianne lost to Massiel Taveras the candidate from the province of Santiago.
Later on Marianne went on to participate in the Miss Continente Americano 2007 beauty pagent. She became the winner having been preceded by Mia Taveras another beauty queen from the Dominican Republic
After having disputed this title with 8 beauties coming from various areas of the country. Marianne Cruz 22-year-old received the crown worked out in white gold and of a value of 300 thousand pesos, from the hands of Massiel Taveras, Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2007.

When Marianne was declared winner of Miss Continente Americano 2007, many were upset because the Dominican Republic had won this pageant two times in a row: by Mia Taveras in 2006 and Marianne Cruz in 2007. She also was asked to return to participate in Miss Dominican Republic 2008 and similarly, when she was declared the winner, many said the pageant was fixed . Many people say that she has a strong possibility of winning the title Miss Universe 2008.
