Lostprophets' upcoming fourth studio album is currently untitled and is currently slated for a early 2009 release.^{[citation needed]}

[edit] Writing and Recording

After releasing their 2006 album, Liberation Transmission, and finishing touring the band felt they "have gotten a lot of their pop vibes out of their system" and were looking to do something different.^[1][2] They wanted it to sound "darker" or "nastier" and also wanted to release it faster than any previous effort. At this point the band hoped to write the album in early 2007, record over the summer, and release the album by winter.^[3][4]

By Christmas of 2007 the band had recorded 14 or more songs, and pushed the release date back to summer of 2008. Although they currently have enough tracks to officially release the album, they are exploring various new ideas for the as of yet untitled album.^[5]

The band have re-entered the studio to record the final few songs they wrote during a break from the studio. They will then pick the songs that will be released on the album. The album has now been slated for a early 2009 release by the bands record label Visible Noise.^{[citation needed]} During a recent show at the London Astoria, frontman Ian Watkins apologised for the album being delayed, but that it was in its final stages of completion and that it would be "the best album you've ever heard". They also debuted a new song - "It's Not the End of the World But I Can See it From Here" - on their recent warm up tour for Download Festival

"Next Stop Atrocity" and "For He's a Jolly Good Felon" have been played live, as have tracks titled "Dead" and "Weapon". "Weapon" has since been played on BBC Radio 1's Rock Show and confirmed by the band to have been rejected from the new album.
