All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). [edit] Australian anthems

Looking at the edit history for Australia, I note that you have made an edit regarding the royal anthem, but have not yet participated in the ongoing consensus-gauging as to whether this information should be displayed in the infobox. --Pete 17:24, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Wayne Goss.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Wayne Goss.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 18:52, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DIY

Haha I make the same mistake all the time. The Peter Gabriel song "DIY" keeps coming into my head whenever I update DYK too. :) howcheng {chat} 16:31, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rob_Borbidge.jpg

I have tagged Image:Rob_Borbidge.jpg as {{replaceable fair use}}. If you wish to dispute this assertion, please add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}} to the image description page and a comment explaining your reasoning to the the image talk page. Rettetast 15:56, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ITN change

[edit] Late Antiquity

On your reversion of my edit in Late Antiquity, it's an important point that Eastern Europe wasn't reformed into the Byzantine Empire, but the eastern portion of the Roman Empire. An empire that continued to refer to itself (and to which its neighbors referred) as the Roman empire.

[edit] WorkChoices

Hi there. Per request on WP:RFPP, I have removed the indefinite semi-protect on the above article. I'm curious, however, as to why it was placed, given 1) your prior involvement in the article 2) no prot. reason was provided and 3) the article was low activity at the time. - Alison 16:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Cool. Thanks for the followup. Thought it might be something like that - Alison 13:49, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Russell Cooper.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:59, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] East Romance languages

OK, that's true, my english is poor (I don't learn english at school, but watching movies with french version writed !). Your choice is: to revert me, or to turn my english better.

If the reference at the east romance languages is not necessary here, WERE is it necessary ?

Is a good choice, to NOT have ANY reference about the beginning of the east romance languages in this article "Byzantine Empire" ? I expect your opinion.

[edit] Karl der Grosse

Charlemagne's Roman Empire soon became the Holy Roman Empire which was ruled by German monarchs continuously from Otto I in 962 until Franz II in 1806. It was a German empire in all but name until the 16th century when it was officially named the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. On German Wikipedia he is referred to as Karl I, der Grosse, meaning that Germans officially regard him as their first monarch. --Hereward77 (talk) 00:32, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Verdurian language

An editor has nominated Verdurian language, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Verdurian language (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:59, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Linguistics.

As I wrote there is a schism within linguistics on how to approach the study of language. Your text coincides ONLY with chomskyan generativism, and as such is not NPOV. Typology is at the same time an independent discipline of linguistics and the basis for checking of hypotheses outside generativism (which doesn't feel a need to check it's claims). As I wrote, non-generativists rely on checking their results with typological data for making sure that they're actually performing science.--AkselGerner (talk) 20:36, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] John Howard RfM

Hi Lacrimosus. I'm not sure if you got the message, but there is a Request for Mediation of the John Howard article, regarding whether or not the incident a year ago where Howard blasted Obama as a terrorist should be included or deleted from the article. The link to the RfM is here -> Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/John Howard. There has been lots of recent discussion on the JH talk page about the subject. I put your name on the list of involved parties because you had discussed it last year. I think I may have inadvertently neglected to send you an invitation some days ago when I was looking down the list of those who had previously contributed. Anyway, you may want to put "Agree" or "Disagree" next to your name there. Thank you, and best wishes, Lester 22:06, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Lacrimosus. As you have seen, the RfM failed because some key players didn't want to be involved. While looking at the history list of the John Howard article, I notice you were once very active there a year or so ago. Nowdays we don't see you there much any more. I'm curious about your reasons staying away from the article in recent times. Regards, Lester 04:00, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply, Lacrimosus, as to why you gave up on the John Howard article. You're always welcome back if you return  :) Cheers, --Lester 02:56, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
