KGUD (90.7 FM) is a non-commercial, non-profit radio station broadcasting a Easy Listening format. Licensed to Longmont, Colorado, USA. The station is currently owned by Longmont Community Radio.[1]
[edit] History
The station began operating in 1975 as KCDC, licensed to the St. Vrain Valley School District, and was used by the Career Development Center, a vocational high school in Longmont, for training students in communications. When the training program ended, the District no longer had a use for the station, and agreed to transfer the license to a non-profit community group in March 2003.
KGUD now plays pleasing music not heard elsewhere, mainly from the 1930s to 1980s, with some classics at night, such as Pachelbel's "Canon in D" and Vivaldi's "Spring". There are no news reports, but the station provides clear, up-to-date weather forecasts. Its local public-service announcements provide information not available elsewhere, from upcoming concerts and plays, exercise programs for senior citizens, and tours of open-space areas to paid summer jobs for teenagers, ESL classes, and diverse volunteer opportunities.
According to a director at the station, there are no current plans to change the format.
This station is owned and operated by Longmont Community Radio, whose mission is "Improving community through communication".
