[edit] Biography

Rietti was born in England. He is a descendent of the Ben Ish Chai, a noted Sephardic leader and son of famed British actor and voice master, Robert Rietti. Raised non-observant, Rietti turned back to his Jewish heritage in his teens, giving up on an opporunity to try-out for a future in professional football. As the son of a celebrity, he attended schools together with the children of other famous individuals, including that of Ringo Starr,[4] and was frequently introduced to film stars who were acquainted with his father, such as Sean Connery.[5] Rietti often draws upon his familiarity with the film and advertising industries to both entertain the listener as well as criticize certain aspects of the social climate.[6]

Rietti received his ordination from the Gateshead Rabbinical College, after which he was involved in establishing a growing kollel in Gibralter.[7] He is also the director of the publication society for the Breslov Research Institute.[8]

Rabbi Rietti has authored a number of books, including The One Minute Masmid, an instruction manual on the proper way to study Torah, written in the form of a third-person narrative. He has also written a booklet entitled, The Art of Healthy Living.

He lives with his wife, Devorah, and their children in Monsey, New York.

[edit] Involvement in Jewish education

He has been an educational consultant since 1986 to parents of gifted children and those with ADD. He is well known in educational circles as the first to create a full curriculum for Montessori styled Jewish education at elementary level and beyond that "dovetails a Torah education with Montessori methodology,"[9] and regularly hosts teachers from around the world for guidance and training.[10] He stresses the importance of emotional intelligence,[11] something he that decries as being sorely understressed in the modern educational system.

He was the principal for Yeshivas Sha'arei Simcha in Passaic, New Jersey in the early to mid-2000's and is on staff at the Mesorah Center for Continuing Jewish Education, where his focus is on Jewish children.[12]

As of early 2008, Rabbi Rietti has become "integrally involved" with a new type of yeshiva that is to open in Brooklyn, New York, in which all secular learning will be derived from origins in Judaism.[13]

[edit] Gateways

Rabbi Rietti is a senior lecturer for Gateways,[14] a Jewish organization devoted to providing access to Torah and preventing assimilation. It is in this capacity that he lectures across the United States, as well as for other organizations, such as The Jewish Learning Exchange, a service of Ohr Somayach International.[15] He is a reknowned speaker and is well known for his extensive collection of educational seminars and lectures,[16] focusing on mussar and the authenticity of Judaism and the Torah, as well as inspirational albums, including such topics as love and marriage, positive parenting and inner growth. As of 2008, he has recorded nearly 200 lectures, and along with Rabbi Mordechai Becher, he is considered to be one of the top Jewish outreach speakers in America[17] and is "one of the most sought after speakers in the Jewish world," particularly in areas such as love, marriage and the proper Jewish approach to dealing with interpersonal relationships.[18]

Rietti currently serves on the response team of Ask the Rabbi, a website dedicated to answering any and all questions about Judaism, usually within 24 hours.[19] He has also been featured numerous times as a guest speaker on the Gavriel Sanders Show, delivering lectures on the Jewish perspective on love, happiness and anger mangement.[20]

Through Gateways, Rabbi Rietti has become involved with numerous outreach organizations and educational institutions, including Ohr Somayach and the Jewish Awareness Movement.[21]
