Earl Jeffrey “Jeff” Wentworth is a Republican member of the Texas Senate from the 25th District since 1993. His district includes northern portions of San Antonio.[1] (born November 20, 1940)[2]

In 2002, Wentworth had a close primary challenge waged by the then conservative State Representative John Shields of San Antonio, son-in-law of the popular businessman Red McCombs.

In 1982, Wentworth was defeated when he was the Republican nominee against the Democrat Abraham Kazen of the 23rd District, based in San Antonio and Laredo.
