[edit] 5280 Declined speedy.
Hello, I declined the speedy deletion because it does not read like an advert-- just a history of the thing and an assertion of notability. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 22:28, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, whatever. Jake the Editor Man (talk) 18:27, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Viscount Severn
I've put the link to a reference on the talk page at the UK line of succession article. I'm wary of introducing my lack of wikimarkup to such a large list, so feel free to add it to the article itself if you feel that's appropriate. Chrislintott (talk) 18:30, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- Y Done.
- I have added the sources. Thanks, and have a nice day!

- Portal
The portal is finally at its peak after over one and a half years! The portal now have many regular voters on which are article and image should be selected.
- Requests
The new requests section has launched, it is now less complicated. Simply click on a category that your request fits in and type your request. It couldn't be simpler.
- Did You Know,...
- ...that in January 2005 London Underground announced that it would play classical music at stations prone to loitering by youths. A trial had shown a 33% drop in abuse against staff. This had been first tried, with success, on the Tyne and Wear Metro.
- ...that Arsenal is the only Underground station named after a London football club (it was previously known as Gillespie Road). Watford is named after the area which it serves, as is West Ham. The nearest station to West Ham United Football Club is Upton Park, the name of West Ham United's Stadium.
- ...that the phrase "Mind the gap" is played when trains stop at stations with curved platforms. It has become the Underground's best-known catchphrase.
- ...that five stations are named after pubs: Angel, Elephant & Castle, Manor House, Royal Oak and Swiss Cottage. There might have been a sixth, as the proposed North End Station (between Hampstead and Golders Green) became known as Bull and Bush for the famous nearby drinking house; the station was abandoned before its completion.
- ...that it is possible to travel through ten stations in a row all beginning with the same letter by starting at Hounslow East, travelling towards Heathrow and round the Heathrow loop and returning to Hounslow East again. Intermediate stations are Hounslow Central, Hounslow West, Hatton Cross, Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3, Heathrow Terminal 4, Hatton Cross again, Hounslow West again, Hounslow Central again, returning to Hounslow East.

Many thanks for jumping in on my translation of the E27 entry. I don't want to tell you how to spend the weekend. I'm Essex too, and I know things can get pretty wild out at Wivenhoe on a Saturday night. No? ...anyhow, IF you get a moment:
- I took a look at the list of E roads at the bottom of the E road entries and tried to add my E27 entry. I gave up quickly. Do you know how this thing works, please? The problem - one problem - is I have to call this thing 'E27 road' because E27 seems to have been taken by a light bulb. The larger problem is that I haven't yet become sufficiently wiki-literate to feel confident of my ability to manipulate these tables: I see I've even forgotten what they're wiki-called.
- I also see that someone has entered some very fetching diagrams for the E roads in some of the other language versions, but there's no equivalent that I can find for the English ones. (1) is there one that I didn't find because I looked in the wrong place? (2) Do you know of anyone who might actually WELCOME the challenge of constructing one? The Norwegian version looks very pretty, but maybe there are French or German ones that would be easier to copy / adapt by someone who knows the ground rules.
- Sorry to bother you with this. If you've something better to do, do it. But nothing ventured nothing gained, methinks... Regards Charles01 (talk) 16:03, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Why on earth did you remove the speedy-delete notice on this article? Ship it off ti Wiktionary and let them deal with it? Fpr Pete's sake, man, just get rid pf patent nonsense like this right away and don;t pass it off elsewhere! No we've had to drag this stupid article through the AfD process. This was SO obvious, not even borderline! - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:42, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Sadly due to editorial issues we couldn't launch our new look Metro this month and I have indefinately postponed it. Thank you for your understanding.
The future of The Metropolitan is currently under review due to the lack of contributions and subscribers. We hope to publish at least one (probably final) issue before the review.
