Category talk:Independent schools in England
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Are we getting the categories correct here? At present a school either goes into County, with the disadvantage of not knowing how to find it unless you know the county, or (if not categorised by county) into the alphabetical list, in which case you can't find it under county.
It would be more useful if schools appeared twice, once under county and once in the alphabetical list. As far as I can tell, Wikpedia won't do this. If you enter:
Category:Public schools in Surrey
Public Schools in England
a school only appears under Surrey.
What to do? In time the (very useful) alphabetical list will disappear once all schools have had county cats added. Mark Nesbitt 09:12, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Just add [[Category:Public schools in Surrey]] and [[Category:Public schools in England]], and it should add the page to both. However, I must say that I support breaking up these huge alphabetical lists that no one can make head nor tail of. I fail to see how an alphabetical list is any more useful than a geographical-alphabetical list... Deano (Talk) 17:56, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Public Schools Act 1868
According to United Kingdom Law there are only nine public schools. All the others are independent schools, so this category is incorrect. Perhaps you should consider revising this. -Wser 15:15, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
