  • Be careful not to change the wording of the license text in the same edit. Any changes to the content of the license notice should be dealt with separately.
  • Leave a meaningful edit summary, like Standardizing license templates with [[Template:Image-license]].
  • Strike out the converted template in the list below and sign.
  • If you have found a license template which you don't know how to standardize with this meta-template, leave a message here.

[edit] Disclaimers

I have no problems with this standardization in general. However, people seem to be using it as an excuse to insert "subject to disclaimers" without mentioning this in the edit summary. Does anyone know where this addition originated? Superm401 | Talk 21:00, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

It seemed to be on many of the original templates and I figured that it means that our assertion that something is licensed under a particular license is subject to disclaimers, not that the copyright status of public domain works is somehow subject to disclaimers. That made sense to me, so I put it in. IIRC, it then got removed and re-added, but I didn't follow that closely. Zocky 00:08, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
I think that this "subject to disclaimers" text shouldn't be used on any template that isn't strictly a licence template (for example, fair use is not a licence). So I think it shouldn't appear in this template (and if someone wants to add it to a licence, then they should do that independently). JYolkowski // talk 02:52, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. It was in the template just for one day. Zocky 16:52, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
