It is planned to expand the current airport into an all-weather airport. A Rs. 195 crore proposal was submitted recently for land acquisition for the airport. It is proposed to acquire 650 acres (2.6 km²) of surrounding land, of which 530 acres (2.1 km²) is agricultural land.
