Herald is an unincorporated rural community located in Sacramento County, California, USA. It is located east of the City of Galt along State Route 104. The ZIP Code is 95638, and the community is inside area code 209.

In the state legislature Herald is located in the 1st Senate District, represented by Republican Dave Cox, and in the 10th Assembly District, represented by Republican Alan Nakanishi. Federally, Herald is located in California's 3rd congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of R +7 ^[1] and is represented by Republican Dan Lungren.
