[edit] Summary
This is a map of Harvard Square and surrounding area to the Charles River in 1873. The original map is from an atlas of Cambridge published by Hopkins.
Interesting notes: Harvard College is not labelled as a university yet, though officially termed one by Massachusetts since 1780. North Ave., Harvard St., and Main St. have not been renamed as Massachusetts Avenue yet. The Charles River does not have a major roadway along its banks yet.
