"Hair of the Dog" is the title track of Nazareth's 1975 album Hair of the Dog. It is sometimes called "Son of a Bitch" because of a lyric in the chorus (Now you're messing with a son of a bitch). The song was later covered by such bands like Guns N' Roses on their 1993 album "The Spaghetti Incident?", Warrant and Britny Fox. Stonerider covered the song on their 2008 album "Three Legs of Trouble". Although the song has not been covered by hard rock band AC/DC, it is commonly mistaken to be one of their songs
The song's riff, which closely resembles the Beatles' Day Tripper, is sampled in Girls Aloud's "Sexy! No No No...", for which Nazareth received a writing credit.
The opening drum part is similar to Grand Funk Railroad's "We're an American Band"
