The Greece National Rugby Union team is one of the worlds newest international rugby union playing nations. The national team resorts under the HRU (Hellenic Rugby Union) or EOP (Elliniki Omospondia Rugby), and is presided by Mr. Evangelos Stamos. Greece has been participating in international competitions since October 2005 playing its first international game in Vienna against Austria. Since then, they have played several international games in FIRA competition 3D, and Greece. Greece played Slovakia in the Final on 12th May, 2007 in Thessaloniki, were they won 20-17 & in doing so gained promotion to division 3C. The current coach of the Greek national team is Niall Doherty, who is also Head Coach of Cyprus.
