Talk:Global Gathering 2005
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- I've now completed the list of performers, but consequently this article has become very long. I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, so I'm not sure what should be done. Do we create more pages? --Seaweed 21:43, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
- Pretty sure it's fine as it is to be honest. Don't see it getting all that much longer, just refined from here. There are definitely articles out there that are longer than this. Also, take it you went this w/e, you go camping? Hope you had fun, know I sure as hell did! --mike[F] 23:06, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
- Yep, I was there the whole weekend - just me and a mate. Didn't go too crazy, I'm more of a house person, so most of it was a bit too hard for me, but good laugh all the same. Underworld was my highlight - excellent! I thought the Gods Kitchen tent was very impressive - only saw Jon O'Bir though. By the way, I've put down all the appearance times as per the programme, but I know some of those times didn't actually happen. For example, Jon Digweed was already playing when we pitched up at 10.45. No doubt you experienced similar with other DJs. Do we change it all? Sounds like a big table in the making, so maybe not! --Seaweed 13:03, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- Cool, I saw a bit of house, Morillo was amazing. Was mostly there for the trance, spent quite a bit of Sat at R1 and Gods, wasn't impressed with Fergie/Eddie Halliwell but thought the rest was amazing... As for the times, I think we're probably best off leaving it as it is, it would be too hard to try and track down the actual times that various people came on. I know that a couple of acts didn't actually play at all, if we could find out who they were that might be worth mentioning. For now I'll add a comment at the top of the listing explaining about the times. Next problem is that all the acts have wikilinks, but some of these link to the wrong things. eg Paul Thomas. Might be worth unlinking those that don't have articles, what do you reckon? --mike[F] 16:18, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- I saw Erick Morillo too! A class act, although I must admit his style of mixing got on my nerves a bit (all that cutting out), but too be honest I don't dare question the Morillo! I'm really into deep house (I was even wearing a www.deephousepage.com t-shirt), but I can't argue with what's popular. We had a brief look in on the Polysexual tent - way over my head, but everyone loving it, so good luck to them. If it's dance, it's got my vote. Anyway, gone a bit off topic. I agree with your point about the wikilinks. But how should it work? Do we create a link to, say, Paul Thomas? Or just miss him out? What is the implication for the "Wanted Pages" list in Special Pages? I've just noticed, for example, that there is a Anne Savage (DJ) article. So do we diligently go through the links and fix them all where possible? I don't want Anne Savage hunting me down!! --Seaweed 21:13, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- I reckon we go through and fix everything we can to point to the correct pages. If the correct page doesn't exist, then I think it's not unreasonable to redlink to <name>_(DJ) or <name>_(Band) as appropriate. The only thing is I'm not sure exactly who some acts are, so might end up redlinking to something inappropriate... If in doubt, don't make it a link, perhaps. Morillo was the one who played Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams right at the end, wasn't he? That was quite cool; the fact that it was almost a completely unedited version actually made it better in my view. Didn't look into Polysexual at all I think, although looking back I'd have quite liked to to see what was going on, just to see crazily drugged up people dancing like maniacs! Did you see much on the Friday? We arrived quite late and only really caught Sasha's set, but that was fantastic. Time somehow stretched itself out so we didn't feel like we'd missed too much of the day, either. Stayed up till 6:30 with some random guys we found, quite odd. Damnit I want to go back! --mike[F] 23:16, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Global gathering 05.gif
Image:Global gathering 05.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
