Paul Anthony Thomas (born 5 October 1980) is the bassist of the band Good Charlotte.
Thomas was born Waldorf, Maryland. He started out on the guitar, but then a friend influenced him to play the bass guitar. Paul attended La Plata High School in La Plata, Maryland with Benji and Joel Madden, but was expelled after threatening to punch the principal in the face.[citation needed] Thomas has known the Madden twins since they were young children, and fellow Good Charlotte member Billy Martin since he joined the band in 1998.
Thomas plays five stringed Lakland basses. He has stars tattoed around his left calf, representing members of his family with his being outlined in blue.
During a performance at Brisbane, Australia on October 9th, 2007, Paul broke his ankle during the third song. Afterwards, bandmate Benji played a couple of acoustic duets with his brother Joel. Once thought fit, he returned to the stage and continued to play, but stayed seated for the performance. Joel can be quoted to saying - 'Paul has broken his ankle, and we kinda need to get to the hospital sorta soon. So we'll play a handful more songs'. At this announcement, the spectators erupted, because there was a feeling that the show would be cut short.
In his MySpace, Paul told that he was engaged with his girlfriend, Diana.
