ISO 3166-2:GB
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ISO 3166-2:GB is an ISO standard which defines geocodes: it is the subset of ISO 3166-2 which applies to the United Kingdom.
The codes correspond to the administrative divisions of the UK:
- England
- 34 counties with county councils (all shire counties excluding Berkshire)
- 32 London boroughs
- 36 Metropolitan boroughs
- 47 unitary authorities (including the Isles of Scilly)
- 1 city corporation (the City of London)
- Northern Ireland
- Scotland
- Wales
The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are not part of the UK, but ISO offers codes for them under "GB-".
The first part of each code is the ISO 3166-1 code GB for the United Kingdom, and the second part is a three-letter code, which is the same as in the British Standard BS 6879.
