Francis Bacon School is a mixed sex state school located in St Albans in South Hertfordshire. It is named after Sir Francis Bacon. It is a specialist school in Maths and Computing. There are currently seven years of education from year 7 to 11 and the two years of the Sixth form. Its Sixth form is in consortium with nearby schools Marlborough and Townsend. Francis Bacon School contains students with cultural backgrounds from Asia to Africa as well as the UK and takes great pride in its multi-community links.
In 1999, the school's new sports hall (which was funded by the national lottery) was completed. It is made up of a dance room and changing rooms, and a fully equipped basketball size hall. It is available for public hire.
The current headmaster is Jacqueline Verrall, who took over in 2005.
