Edouard Goubert

Clemencedu Edouard Goubert (July 29, 1894 to August 14, 1979) was former mayor and first chief minister of Pondichéry between July 1, 1963 - September 11, 1964. Initially he was a strong pro-French leader, but afterwards he shifted towards pro-merger congress which ultimately became the death knell to the sovereignty of France in its comptoirs in India.
