[edit] History
After more than a year of test broadcasts, NU TV Channel 37 was formally launched as UNTV 37, the first alternative locally programmed music video channel on October 2001.
The Philippine Congress awarded the UHF TV frequency of Channel 37 to Progressive Broadcasting Corporation and UNTV started operating in 2002 famous for its offbeat programs like Strangebrew and In The Raw.
On 2004, a diversified holding company, Breakthrough & Milestones Productions International later bought the block time from the station and introduced new, intelligent alternative programming. For a while, Strangebrew and In The Raw where shown on government-owned National Broadcasting Network.
It later became famous after exposing a police rubout on November 7, 2005 when it became the only media company to cover a police rubout incident right in front of its broadcast building. UNTV's footage became a vital evidence for a case filed on the Philippines' Commission on Human Rights.
