Desmond Flower, 10th Viscount Ashbrook

Desmond Llowarch Edward Flower, 10th Viscount Ashbrook KCVO, MBE, DL, JP (9 July 1905 – 5 December 1995) was an Irish peer and soldier.
The son of the 9th Viscount Ashbrook and Gladys Lucille Beatrice Higginson, he was educated in Eton College, Berkshire and Balliol College, Oxford, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1927. Ashbrook worked as charted accountant, succeeding to his father's titles on 30 August 1936. During the Second World War, he served in the Royal Artillery, Territorial Army, reaching the rank of major. In 1945, he was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire and in 1949 Deputy Lieutenant for Cheshire. He was Justice of Peace for Cheshire from 1946 to 1968 and Vice Lord-Lieutenant from 1961 to 1968. Between 1957 and 1995, Ashbrook was a council member of the Duchy of Lancaster. In 1977, he was invested as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
On 8 November 1934, he married Elizabeth Egerton-Warburton, daughter of Captain John Egerton-Warburton. They had three children:
- Michael Llowarch Warburton Flower, 11th Viscount Ashbrook (b. 1935)
- Hon. Anthony John Warburton Flower (1938–1991), married Bridget Karen Duncan, daughter of J. Duncan on 23 July 1970
- Hon. Jane Mary Elizabeth Flower (b. 1943), married Charles Francis Foster, son of Brigadier Thomas Francis Vere Foster on 6 May 1967
