Day Middle School

Frank Ashley Day Middle School is a public school located in the village of Newtonville in Newton, Massachusetts with its own web site. Students from Peirce, Cabot, Burr, Franklin and Horace Mann Elementary Schools go to this middle school, and in turn the Day students attend Newton North High School.

The monthly newspaper of Day middle school, The Daytime, has won a national competition, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown Newspaper award (middle school division) for seven years in a row, from 2001 - 2006.
"The Daytime" is run by Bob "Prov" Provencher. Mr. Provencher is a "Reading Teacher" at Day Middle School. Mr. Provencher is also a Republican.[1]

Mindy Goodman, the former 6th grade French teacher and school Latin teacher, won a national teaching award in 2002 from the American Philological Association [1]. She is also a Justice of the Peace and retired after the 2006 school year.
Some current modern day celebrities who have gone to Day include Matt LeBlanc, Ian Mclean and Matthew Doeringer
On April 28th, 2007, the 8th Grade Acting Elective brought home a gold medal from the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild Middle School Drama Festival for their production of the one-act play "Tick Talk" by Lindsay Price, as well as three student honors.
