Darren "Dasher" Milburn (born April 15, 1977), is a professional Australian Rules Football player who plays for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League. Milburn has made a name for himself as a versatile, cool, calm, and collected team defender with an ability to both lock-down on opponents and provide meaningful rebound on the break.

[edit] Career

Drafted by the Geelong Cats in the 1995 National Draft with pick 48 from the Calder Cannons, Milburn made his debut for the Cats in Round 1, 1997 against the Richmond Football Club before receiving a nomination for the National Rising Star in 1998. In 2001 Milburn was involved in a heavy clash with Carlton fullback Stephen Silvagni, knocking Silvagni unconscious and forcing him to be stretchered from the field. This event caused much anger and controversy among Carlton fans, who felt that Milburn was more intent on attacking the man instead of the ball. Milburn usually plays as a centre half back, but recently he has moved to back pocket and half back flanks since Matthew Egan has moved to Centre half-back.

In season 2007 he received his first All-Australian guernsey in the back-pocket. Milburn played a pivotal role in Geelong's defence throughout the groundbreaking year, which ended with a Premiership medallion for the veteran.
