[edit] Debut
Boyd made his debut for the Broncos against North Queensland in round 1 of 2006 on the wing and scored a try. He was a solid performer in his rookie season and even had an opportunity to play in his favoured fullback position from round 16 to 24 after Karmichael Hunt fractured a foot bone in round 15. Boyd was a member of the 2006 premiership team and subsequently won the Broncos' rookie of the year award.
[edit] 2007 and beyond
At the beginning of the 2007 season, Boyd was unable to perform to the same standard as he did throughout his rookie season. However, after being moved from the wing to the centres, Boyd began to once again perform consistently.
Boyd had revieved attention from other clubs which he is off contract end of this season. However, Boyd decided to exercise an option in his contract which allowed him to stay with the Broncos for one more year until the end of 2009.[2]
[edit] Representative career
Boyd made a strong start to his 2008 season by scoring a hat-trick in round one. After leading the NRL try-scoring table for most of the first half of the season, Boyd got his first State of Origin call up due to teammate Justin Hodges' suspension.[3]
