[edit] WP:LT

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to the London Transport WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of London's transport system.

A few features that you might find helpful:

  • You may want to join or create a task force which attempts to drive the improvement of articles within a smaller scope.
  • The project also provides templates to help you make the perfect article.

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!

[edit] East London Line

In case you missed it, the reason for removing the image was "decorative image, text stands without it so fails NFCC". See WP:NFCC, particularly 8 and 9. 90.203.45.214 (talk) 20:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

See London Overground for my reasons - your reasons are, well, rubbish as you're going over old ground on that page and the position same applies on ELL. [Note to self: in future, don't reply to people who aren't actually registered] D-Notice (talk) 22:29, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

::You're evidently having difficulty grasping this concept, so I'll just repeat it louder and more slowly: NON-FREE IMAGES CANNOT BE USED IN GALLERIES AND LINE-UPS, per WP:NFCC #8. I am treating any attempt at reinstating the image as vandalism. 90.203.45.214 (talk) 19:39, 26 December 2007 (UTC) Sorry... personal attacks will be removed

Some people take Wikipedia way too seriously for their own good... D-Notice (talk) 10:06, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lockerbie railway station

Can you please explain why you have changed <references/> to {{reflist}}. There has been recent discussions on Template talk:reflist#From Talk:Morayshire Railway and Wikipedia talk:Footnotes#From Talk:Morayshire Railway which concluded that <references/> could be left until there was around ten references. I intend to revert your edit since it was unnecessary an did not add anything to the article. --Stewart (talk) 19:42, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough. I was unaware of the discussion. D-Notice (talk) 19:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] London Meetup - January 12, 2008

Hi! There's going to be a London Wikipedia Meetup coming Saturday January 12, 2008. If you are interested in coming along take part in the discussion over a Wikipedia:Meetup/London7. The discussion is going on until tomorrow evening and the official location and time will be published at the same page late Thursday or early Friday. Hope to see you Saturday, Poeloq (talk) 01:39, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gregorian calendar edit

Thank you for adding a reference to the Gregorian calendar. Could you add a page number to show where in the book Hershel's calendar proposal is? --Gerry Ashton (talk) 22:09, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Not sure where it is - I lifted the reference direct from the page on Hershell... D-Notice (talk) 22:17, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Never mind, I found it on page 629. --Gerry Ashton (talk) 22:20, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Yay! D-Notice (talk) 22:21, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free images

I'm not going to explain why I removed the images, because it seems that you've been warned before over this, so I'm going to jump to level 4:

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did to London Overground, you will be blocked from editing. In future, ask at WP:MCQ or WP:NFC before including non-free images with an invalid rationale. 81.110.106.169 (talk) 20:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

We've been through this before. See the discussion on London Overground. D-Notice (talk) 21:03, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

For an IP-editor to threaten banning is an interesting concept. Either they are an admin trying to hide behind some sort of anonymity, or they are trying to massively exceed their capabilities. Either way, they are wrong and could be themselves blocked for such behaviour if repeated. --AlisonW (talk) 23:15, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for this. I'll revert his/her edits D-Notice (talk) 06:36, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you will be blocked from editing. 81.110.106.169 (talk) 13:12, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

You have no authority to be making such threats D-Notice (talk) 15:25, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

::There is no rule on who may or may not use warning templates. Do not reinstate those images without first asking at WP:MCQ or WP:NFC, or demonstrate on the talk page how the loss of these images "would be detrimental to [the reader's] understanding" of London Overground specifically. 81.110.106.169 (talk) 15:50, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

As AlisonW said, you'll be banned if you keep this up... D-Notice (talk) 21:18, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] alwaystouchout.com

I saw your post at User talk:Mr Thant. The problem with alwaystouchout.com is that, while it is very professional-looking, it's basically a fan site maintained by one person. Such sites are not regarded as reliable sources. --RFBailey (talk) 12:36, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Alwaystouchout generally has good summaries, so using it as a source per se isn't a bad idea, at least for uncontroversial things. The problem here is that "Crossrail 3" doesn't seem to appear anywhere else. The site has a bad habit of not being clear about how solid its info is - so something that Dave overheard on a newsgroup once is written in the same authoritative tone as something that appears in a thousand official documents. I don't think we should be repeating the claim without knowing where it came from. --Mr Thant (talk) 14:23, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough then D-Notice (talk)

[edit] London Overground

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on London Overground. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. I suggest talking it to the article's talk page, to discuss the issue and avoid getting blocked. DrFrench (talk) 20:37, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that. The discussion has been done over the past few months. It seemed to have been settled and the other (anonymous) editor stopped making changes. They then came back & after being referred to Admin were suspended. Again, this seemed to have resolved the issue, but once again the anonymous user has brought it back to life. I was merely trying to re-instate what had already been agreed. D-Notice (talk)

You have been warned before that these images do not meet Wikipedia's non-free content criteria for London Overground and Turbostar. This has been pointed out to you three times before by two users. Re-adding the images is therefore vandalism (see Repeated uploading of copyright material). 81.110.106.169 (talk) 20:51, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

I respectfully refer you to the previous discussion we had on this subject... D-Notice (talk) 20:56, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

D-notice, I know you have the best intentions on this article, but you've reverted three times today to your preferred version. Just some friendly advice to be careful not to get too caught up over a silly picture (I'm still reading some of the history and prior discussions), just wanted to give you a "non-template" notice of 3RR. I'm not 100% convinced yet that the IP is "vandalizing" by removing two pictures. (I'm not unconvincible either, just unconvinced) Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 21:52, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

No problem D-Notice (talk) 21:53, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Great - I've left another note to you on Enigmaman's talkpage. Cheers, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 22:17, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
