• Parameter notes:
• With the exception of species, do not delete a parameter - leave the field blank if there is nothing to enter. If the article name is the same as the the name to be used for the infobox, species can be removed.
• For multiple items in one field, separate each with
. For example: creators=Stan Lee
Jack Kirby
• The image field is setup use the file name only and with out braces. For example: image= example.jpg
• The imagesize parameter is set up to only accept a numeric value. If left blank or if a sting (such as "225px") is entered, the image will default to 250px wide.
• If you find the image to be too tall, reduce the size below 250px.
• The parameter is capped at 250. Entering values grater than this will result in the default setting being used.
• The 'caption will appear below the image. Keep it short, but indicate the comic book and issue # if it is from a comic book, in the form Wolverine #17 (typed as ''Wolverine'' #17))
• For the debut field, provide the first appearance of the species. Example: Fantastic Four #3.
• Deities should be used if the infobox is being with a panthon, in whole or in part, of gods. The panthon should be listed here.
• Homeworld is a catch all for the place of origin of the species. Previously this has been listed as both "base" and "location".
• Notable members are characters that are notable examples of the species. These lists should be kept short as they are meant to be examples, not an exhaustive catalogue. Previously this has been listed as only "notable".
• Powers include significant inherent powers and notable abilities of the species. This should be a short list, without description. Keep longer prose for the article text.
• This template will automatically place the article into Category:Fictional species. Subcat and Altcat can be used to move the article to the relevant subcategory.
• Subcat deals with similarly named categories. For example "subcat=Marvel Comics" will place the article into only the Category:Marvel Comics species. This will interact with deities sorting out to those categories instead of "species".
• Altcat deals with distinctly named subcategories. For example "altcat=Earth-Two" will place the article into only the Category:Earth-Two.
• Sortkey is required. It can be changed to forcing a different sort in the category. This parameter will not recognize a leading space.
