Chebrolu or Chebrole is a town and a Mandal in Guntur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. [1]
It was a historical site where lot of inscriptions and coinage were found in India.
Chebrolu is a major panchayat comprising three villages Chebrolu, Pathareddypalem and Kothareddypalem. It is a mandal headquarters. Buckingham canal, which passes nearby is used for inland transport and irrigation. It was a regional fort for the Pallavas, Chalukyas and the Kakatiya Empire. Its ancient name was Sambhole (from which 'Chebrolu' is derived). There are famous Chalukya inscriptions. Chebrolu is mentioned in the Yuddamalluni-Vijayawada inscriptions. It became famous during the rule of the Kakatiyas, as a great general Jayapa ruled the Chebrolu fort. Jayapa's sisters were married to Ganapatideva, the greatest Kakatiya. Jayapa also wrote a famous book on Indian dance, Nrutyaratnavali.

Terracota figurines and two coins related to Constantine Empire were found in this place. It was also place where lot of inscriptions of Cholas like Velanadu Chodas were found. Chalukya Cholas settled here. Satyasraya of Eastern Chalukyas sent an army by his general Baya Nambi to seize of the areas of Chalukya Cholas. The general entered Vengi from the south, reduced the forts of Dharanikota and Yanamadala to ashes and established himself at Chebrolu.

Culturally rich is chebrole ...with more than 100 temples it has great historical importance...Even ANDHRA PRADESH GOVT.. recognised the historical importance of CHEBROLE and placed CHEBROLE in its tourism map....chebrole has one unique importance that is LORD BRAHMA 'S TEMPLE is located ....generally BRAHMA has no offerings according to Hindu mythology..
