Casey Scorpions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Casey Scorpions is an Australian football team which plays in the VFL. The club is relatively new, founded in 1982 as the Springvale Football Club, playing under the name Springvale Scorpions. In its short history, the club has seen great success, winning five premierships: 1987, 1995, 1996, 1998 and 1999. Nevertheless, they were unable to survive in Springvale, and have played in a number of different suburbs over the past ten years.
The club is now based at the VFL Complex at Casey and plays home games at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East. To reflect their various moves, the team was renamed from "Springvale Scorpions" to simply "Scorpions," and in 2006 to their current name "Casey Scorpions". While playing as the Casey Scorpions the legal name of the club is still the Springvale Football Club Ltd, and it retains an SFC monogram on its guernsey. It is affiliated with the AFL club St Kilda. From 2009, Casey will be affiliated with Melbourne and end its affiliation with St Kilda. [1]
