Canlaon City

Canlaon City is a 4th class city in the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 46,548 people in 9,302 households. Canlaon is located 168 km from the provincial capital Dumaguete. It is bordered on the east by Vallehermoso and on the south by Guihulngan.
Canlaon is home to the highest peak in the province, Canlaon Volcano, which is 2,465 meters above sea level at its highest point.

In 1942, the Japanese Imperial forces entered in Canlaon city.
In 1945, entered by the Philippine Commonwealth troops liberated in Canlaon city together with the Filipino guerrillas fought by the battles attacked from the Japanese troops in the Second World War.
