I wonder if your initials are A E. If not, I know somebody you should meet. She's a fiction writer who likes all sorts of fantasy stories, writes erotica, is very involved with language of all sorts, is handy with a computer, and (incidentally) is a lesbian. Looking over information about you, I entirely missed that you were a guy. I suppose that I was so intrigued between the similarities between you and AE that I didn't notice a quite real gender difference. In any case, if you'd like to check out some of AE's fictional writing, you can look at http://www.starharbornights.com - it contains a few finished storylines and many that stagnated when she had to take a break from the project. The stories are set in an origional superhero-esque world, but that world is distinctly flavored with her skeptical and sexual style.

I was a little unsure about the connection between you two anyway - if this were her account, her edit history would be packed full of edits to Buffy the Vampire Slayer-related pages. She's a self-proclaimed fanatic.

By the way, Deisceart means south, the n is an úrú, it would just mean south of the city or whatever. After 'i'(meaning in) it would be 'ndeisceart'. Where are you getting the population stats for the likes of Terenure? Given the way the Dublin suburbs bleed into each other, I'm struggling to think how these figures could be arrived at. --Ryano 08:28, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your answer to the above. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but the only way I can come up with stats for Dublin suburbs is to add together the populations of the DEDs which include the name of the suburb in question. For example, adding together all the DEDs with "Terenure" in the name gives me 17,707, which is very close to your figure. Is this how you arrived at the figures, or is there a table showing populations of these suburbs which I'm not aware of? --Ryano 15:42, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I'm not certain this approach of aggregating the population of DEDs is that useful in the case of Dublin suburbs. I'm fairly familiar with the DEDs in the Dublin South East area, and if you were to use the same approach for Rathmines you would include the population of Ranelagh as well as the populations of most of Donnybrook, Rathgar and even part of Terenure north-east of Terenure village. As you go further east, you could calculate the population of Pembroke, a township that hasn't existed for almost a century, but you couldn't calculate the populations of Sandymount, Ballsbridge or Donnybrook. I often see spelling 'errors' go both ways: AE additions/edits on BE pages and BE additions/edits on AE pages (and from what I've seen, most are the former). Users need to check what type of spelling is being used before imposing their own variety. — Yama 11:01, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I see you are a master of templates. Can you explain to me exactly how I can introduce Babel to the Irish language Vicipéid.

Most of the language names in Irish are on the main page, at the bottom where it says 'Teangacha éagsúla'(or something similar). I'll try to add as many as I can now. P.S. You don't know how to create bots do you?- Dalta 13:35, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ok, I fixed the ga-0 and the page with ga-0 at the top. Only problem is the Babel/ga-0 page has French in all the other languages. i.e. The English one says 'If you have no french, put fr-0 on your user page'. It'll be grand to translate the english one, but what's Irish in Arabic?

As to the Benutzer thing, I have no idea, I copied the de thing straight from the English one. You could ask ga:Úsáideoir:Angr, he lives in Germany or ga:Úsáideoir:Netzrack.N, he's German.

Is there a need to extend the intro on the Babel page itself? I know the French one is much better, but I think the main points are covered, what do you think? - Dalta 18:37, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I tried my hand at a template for the thousandth article. It's here: ga:Múnla:mílealt, it says in the top line, 'Vicipéid now has one thousand articles. Congratulations to us.', then in the bottom it says 'alt was the thousadnth article. Click on a red link to create an article.' It's stolen from the Wikipedia main page and it's preety scant. You got any ideas for sprucing it up a bit? Maybe making it not so blatantly stolen from wikipedia. - Dalta 19:51, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hey man, I was looking you use babelfish to translate my articles. If you need, I can translate them to english, that isn't perfect but almost good. Maybe I can write the article on en.wiki and then you can correct my eventual grammar mistakes.

Hi, thank you for your critical comment on the colors. I do not insist on the colors which I chose here. I rather grabbed the first distinctive sets I could get ahold of. And I confess that I'm not a person with a good sense for optical aesthetics. If you do have a better proposal which you think would be agreeable for a majority of other users, please just tell me and I would redo the whole thing one more time. :-/ My point was just to have a clearcut optical distinction between the different competence levels, because if you surf around other Babel lists and look at long lists as mine, without any color differences you would get absolutely lost (cf. the list on my German page: [1]). As for international uniformity: innovation always has to start somewhere, hasn't it? If the idea is accepted here, it can spread to other Wikipedias. If you think I should hand in a late explanation to the discussion page, I would do so. At the moment I just hesitate a bit to discuss the very colors there, because this maybe would not lead to anything but quarrel about taste. But I don't know what is best. Any suggestions about how to deal with it now are absolutely welcome! HV 22:49, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Well, when I checked my profile some time ago, everything seemed way cooler than it was before (with the orange and everything). Not that I like orange that much, but it's the combo that made it look nice. However, you've changed it back, right? =[

Well, I just wanted to tell I think it was pertty cool the way it was before. At least on the ones I use. I don't know if that helps, though. I know how relative this is. But here's my opinion anyway.

Thank you for doing the whole color change. Apparently the judgement about the colour scheme depends on the combination of language levels. I would say my first try looks better, when somebody has a complete list from level 1-3 + mothertongue, but it indeed looks awful, when one color is missing, like e.g. in your table. On the other hand your scheme looks very nice when there is no level-3 in between, but if it is, something looks not very perfect. To find an optimal solution one would maybe have to try out the colors with all possible combinations. :-/ Anyway, I am glad that there is a color distinction now and think that your correction is a step into the right direction :-) HV 07:21, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
