[edit] Template:Warlord era

Hello, I am contacting you because you seem to be one of the major editors for Template:Warlord era. While this is definitely an important topic, I feel that the template as it currently exists is just too large. It takes up my entire screen, and my resolution is pretty high. I don't know if a similar proposal has been made before, but I think that it might be best to split up the template into four parts. I have made sample templates that show this type of split, which you can view by going to User:Danaman5/Workshop and clicking on the four "Warlord template" links. Feel free to point me to any other editors who might be concerned with this idea, or to leave comments on my user talk page.

[edit] Jehol

Hi, I suggest merging everything (great wall, rehe, nekka..) to something like "Jehol Invasion". I checked out several books' index and none of them has "nekka" in them, so I'd assume it's a very rare usage in English. Jehol invasion is more common. Blueshirts 23:54, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Nekka is not English its Japanese, Jehol is called Nekka "熱河" in Japanese. This you would expect as a name for their invasion of Jehol and their advance into Hopei was in furtherance of the goal of securing it. Since they were the agressor and won, I think their discription for the operation should get the nod. The take over of Jehol/Nekka was their intent.

I want to show the two phases which are the Jehol operation and then the Great Wall fighting and the subsequent advance toward Peiking, ending in the truce. I want to edit the Rehe and Great wall articles to do this below the Operation Nekka over all article.Asiaticus 08:53, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I know, but the point is that this is English wikipedia, therefore put it under Jehol invasion or Jehol crisis is more suitable. I don't think we should invent names or make obscure translations for the english audience. Blueshirts 09:35, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi once more, I have a question about a recently uploaded photo that I want to use for Liuhe Pagoda of China. The article lacked any picture, and it really needs one, considering that it is one of the greatest Song Dynasty (or any) Chinese pagoda standing today.

[edit] Notability of Zhuotebazhapu

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Zhuotebazhapu, by KJS77 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Zhuotebazhapu seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Zhuotebazhapu, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate Zhuotebazhapu itself. I have found very minimal information about the 42nd, but no such luck with the other two though. Could you help? Thanks. -- 我♥中國 07:13, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Sadly no. I am also unfamiliar with the later period army. Asiaticus 07:17, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

That's too bad. I'll keep you posted if I find anything. -- 我♥中國 07:21, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NRA Army Group and Army Groups of the National Revolutionary Army

Hey there, I wasn't aware of the existence of the article NRA Army Group until just now. Otherwise I would have expanded that article instead. But right now I'm working on Army Groups of the National Revolutionary Army, which already includes much much more information about the army groups. So would you be averse to a merge of NRA Army Group into Army Groups of the National Revolutionary Army? -- Миборовский 04:52, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Heck no.Asiaticus 05:03, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

So yes? BTW if there's any information you can provide, I'd greatly appreciate it. -- Миборовский 05:06, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, yes go ahead. I look forward to what you have. Asiaticus 05:21, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Okay done. -- Миборовский 05:56, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Wow! Nice. Lot of work there. Thanks Asiaticus 06:13, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah I plan to bring it up to featured quality, one day. It's boring work. I thought researching all the hundred or so commanders and their arrival/departure dates was boring, but typing table markup tops even that. -- Миборовский 05:55, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] China-geo-stub

Hi Asiaticus - I notice that you've been marking a few articles with {{China-geo-stub}}. That template's been deprecated - could you please use either {{PRChina-geo-stub}} (for the mainland) or {{Taiwan-geo-stub}} (for RoC)? Or better yet, simply use one of the province-level templates like {{Hebei-geo-stub}}. It just saves a bit of re-stubbing later. Cheers. Grutness...wha? 23:38, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Hobor

A tag has been placed on Hobor, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 14:07, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

What are you talking about it being nonsense or having no historic basis? See the sources. Its a real place in Inner Mongolia and site of a battle in the Japanese Invaison of Suiyuan in 1936. This is what I am writing about. Asiaticus (talk) 14:41, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bail Miao

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Bail Miao, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Pai-ling-miao. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:47, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of 4th "Littorio" Division

A tag has been placed on 4th "Littorio" Division requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. [edit] Blanking Imperial Bodyguard

Do not blank articles as you did with this article. This kind of action is a serious act of damage to Wikipedia, and is considered by many as vandalism & may lead to you being banned from Wikipedia. You have been on Wikipedia long enough to know this. -- llywrch (talk) 21:34, 27 January 2008 (UTC) Ok.Asiaticus (talk) 22:52, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Now I'm puzzled -- & embarassed. Why didn't you tell me that you were trying to merge this article with Kebur Zabangna‎??? While blanking the one article wasn't the right thing to do you did have a good reason for doing that, & had I known what you wanted to do I would have helped you with it. (Wikipedia has a lot of articles, so believe me when I say I forgot that I had nominated them for a merge.) Do I honestly come over as that intimidating? -- llywrch (talk) 23:37, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Just dropping by to say hi, and to see if you are working on any articles that I can help? Thanks man! Aquarius • talk 17:52, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Recently finished up Actions in Inner Mongolia (1933-36) and want to work on improving details on the Suiyuan Campaign (1936) using Guo Rugui's account sourced and linked there. Its a little slow puzzling out the Chinese with a transator and dictionary. If you would like do do something there that would be great. Asiaticus (talk) 20:42, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 142nd Division (Imperial Japanese Army)

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article 142nd Division (Imperial Japanese Army), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Japanese forces in Kuriles & South Sakhalin, 1945

Am trying to sort out what Japanese forces faced the Soviets when they invaded there. Was there an Area Army or Army responsible for those regions? Thanks Buckshot06 (talk) 21:08, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Its all listed there on the Wikipaedia entry for August Storm. Asiaticus (talk) 06:41, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
From my reading of the entries, the Japanese force in Karafuto/South Sakhalin & the Kuriles appears to have been the Japanese Fifth Area Army, rather than the Kwantung Army. Does that sound right? Buckshot06 (talk) 06:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Nuts. You're correct. I am confused with his hard back book:
  • Soviet Operational and Tactical Combat in Manchuria, 1945: August Storm (Cass Series on Soviet (Russian) Military Experience, 8) (Hardcover) by DAVID GLANTZ (Author). The last two chapters added since the Levenworth Paper verion cover the operations there. Asiaticus (talk) 07:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
If you've got that book, can you check what was the composition of the Soviet force that captured the Kuriles - it's a bit unclear to me? Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 07:41, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Sadly I dont have that version, just know it exists. You might ask on the Axis History forum in the Pacific War or the The Soviet Union at War 1917-1945 forums. Someone there probably will have your answer. Asiaticus (talk) 07:53, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
