[edit] License tagging for Image:Samphire.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Samphire.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:08, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

{{helpme}} I am enlarging the article on Apuldram (qv). To illustrate it I have successfully uploaded a photo of Dell Quay and my painting of the church BUT my painting of Rymans does not download, although I think I uploaded it the same way as I did the church. I have had a second try, but I don't know whether this was successful as I can't get rid of the first attempt.Apuldram 15:27, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

I assume you mean Image:Rymans.jpg? That image is corrupt, so the software does not display it. :) -- Stwalkerster talk 15:52, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome

Thanks for your edits on The Foundation of Perth 1829; excellent stuff; hope you stick around. If you're the type that likes to work in a team, you might like to join WP:WA. See you round. Hesperian 10:57, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Not at all; I look forward to seeing what you do with it. Hesperian 22:35, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar

The Original Barnstar
For the rapid expansion of Mark John Currie Gnangarra 23:45, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

A second instalment added, incorporating, where relevant, information gleaned from the awesome number of sites and contributions you have made. Still much to do though.Apuldram 20:10, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks again; I shall make the time to read it through thoroughly now that you've expanded it so very much.
You're too kind. Most of my contributions in this space were made fairly early on in my Wikipedia "career", and need to be looked at again. Land grants in the Swan River Colony is a good example - I was very proud of it when I first posted it, but the more I have read the more naive it seems.

[edit] Harvey River

The article on the Harvey River mentions 'Captain Mark Collie' and links to 'Mark John Currie'. Should it refer and link to Dr 'Alexander Collie'? Apuldram (talk) 15:59, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

You are right, a blonde moment from me: well spotted. I may have been confusing Currie and Drummond's July 1829 expedition to Rockingham with Collie and Preston's more extensive trip into the Peel-Harvey Estuary and down to the mouth of the Collie River in November. Anyway its fixed and a reference added. See ya round. —Moondyne 23:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

The article on Mark John Currie has been given categories: Explorers of Australia; History of Western Australia; Royal Navy Admirals; Settlers of Western Australia. However, in the category lists he is automatically listed under M (presumably for Mark). How do I move his entry to C (for Currie)?Apuldram (talk) 23:54, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

You can either type
[[Category:Explorers of Australia|Currie, Mark John]]
etcetera for each category, or else put the single line
{{DEFAULTSORT:Currie, Mark John}}
just before all the categories.
Hesperian 12:43, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
(e/c) Hi. I fixed this for you by adding {{DEFAULTSORT:Last name, first name}} right above the category list, which tells the software to sort each categoy by the name appearing first. The old method for doing this was to add the names order to each category after a pipe ([[category|Last, first]]) but this new way allows us to do it for all of the categories in one shot.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
