"Apocrypha" is the sixteenth episode of the third season of The X-Files. While Mulder continues to investigate a bizarre illness that originated with the discovery of a mysterious World War II wreckage buried at sea, several government figures try to thwart their efforts. And as Skinner recovers from his shooting, Scully discovers that she is still in danger, from the man who killed her sister. Text taken from the "Apocrypha" summary here.

[edit] Trivia

  • The title refers to the term used in Judeo-Christian theology, apocrypha (from the Greek word απόκρυφα meaning "those having been hidden away"), to denote texts of uncertain authenticity or writings where the authorship is questioned, as well as the term referring to any collection of scriptural texts that fall outside biblical canon. During the sixteenth-century, the word apocrypha acquired a negative connotation, becoming a synonym for "spurious", or "false".
  • The door to the silo in which the salvaged UFO wreckage is stored bears the number "1013" [ten thirteen] which is the name of Chris Carter's production company named after his birthday of October 13th.
