AmericanConnection is a brand name used by two regional airlines and their holding companies to feed American Airlines's flights at the airline's Miami and St. Louis hubs:
- Chautauqua Airlines, serving 13 cities with 15 Embraer ERJ 140 jets
- Trans States Airlines, serving 21 cities with 15 Embraer ERJ 145 jets
AmericanConnection is the name given to flights operated by independent carriers. The AmericanConnection carriers previously operated under a marketing agreement with Trans World Airlines as Trans World Express.
Together, the two carriers operate over 300 flights a day to 27 destinations. The AmericanConnection services are operated as an affiliate to the Oneworld airline alliance.
In March of 2007, AMR announced that RegionsAir would no longer operate as an AmericanConnection carrier. It was announced that Great Lakes Airlines, under its own name, would resume service to seven of the nine cities that RegionsAir had previously served. The remaining two cities (Jackson, TN, and Owensboro, KY) no longer receive air service to St. Louis. [1]
