Alberta Student Vote, 2004

Alberta Student Vote 2004 was conducted by Student Vote Canada in conjunction with the Alberta general election, 2004. The vote was conducted in partnership with the Alberta Government, Elections Alberta and school districts all across Alberta. The vote was held on November 19, 2004, just two days before the real vote.
The purpose was to introduce voting and the electoral process to students of every level in public and private to those under the age of majority. Students voted for real candidates. Candidates were also encouraged to come to schools and campaign. The election included all the same rules as the official election with chief electoral officers polling stations, and voter registration.
This was the fourth Student Votes election; the first was Quebec Student Vote, 2003, then Ontario Student Vote, 2003 and then Federal Student Vote, 2004. Unfortunately, the election only took place in 80 of the 83 provincial electoral districts. The students also did not vote for candidates in the Alberta Senate nominee election, 2004

1 Election was only conducted in 80 of 83 Ridings, 3 Progressive Conservatives added on as Acclaimed, the three districts were Calgary Hays, Calgary Elbow and Calgary Fish Creek, all considered extremely safe Progressive Conservative seats.
2 January 24 A Court decision reversed the result in Edmonton Castle Downs, resulting in Thomas Lukaszuk being elected and Chris Kibbermannis losing his seat. The seat count changed to 62 Progressive Conservative, 16 Liberal.
