Albania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest four times, debuting in 2004. Their best finish was in their debut year, when Anjeza Shahini finished 7th with the song "The Image Of You". Having finished in the top 10, Albania was an automatic finalist in 2005, when Ledina Çelo sung "Tomorrow I Go".
Ledina did not achieve the same level of success as Anjeza had, finishing 16th in the final and thus meaning that the Albanian 2006 entry competed in the semi-final. The following year, Luiz Ejlli became Albania's first male representative and also the first to sing in the Albanian language. However, he did not manage to pass through the final in 2006 and neither did Frederik Ndoci in 2007. Olta Boka, Albania's representative in 2008, participated in the second semi final and managed to return Albania to a Eurovision final.
