Dae Inseon was king of Balhae, (906-926) a kingdom in northeast Asia occupying parts of Manchuria, northern Korea, and the Russian Far East. Dae Inseon was also the last king of Balhae. He and his armies were pushed back and eventually defeated by the Khitan.

Balhae was fully taken over by the Khitan, who established the Dongdan Kingdom. The people of Balhae rose together to oppose their new Khitan rulers, and numerous revival movements occurred over a period of a hundred years. The first of these revival movements was Later Balhae, which was founded by the Balhae Royal Family.

His times lied in the rapid point of changing. In case of Silla, lots of nobles started to refusing to follow superiors' and rebels gathered all over the territories. Additionally, Tang faced serious crisis which was caused by An Lushan and several peasants. Then, Zhu Wen took the foremost position and established Later Liang Dynasty.

Ae concentrated all the way for enhancing desfensive strength against new superpowers and came to urge new brotherhood - Koryo. However, the outcome was not strong because of continuous conflict among the nobles who just looked for the next thrones eagerly.

But the real matter was the Khitans growing numerous power of Manchuria. Khitans found independent nation called Liao Dynasty, which cleared off past namadism and minor peoples' status. Finally, Liao invaded Balhae in 925 and Holhan castle which had been 5 most important cities during those eras was taken away just after 10 days. In 926, Balhae collapsed.
