[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:NineInchNailslogo.jpg)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:NineInchNailslogo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SeventyThree(Talk) 02:59, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images

I'd just like to say thanks for spending your time uplading these images with the correct licensing and information - it makes things a lot easier. Sources would be good as well. Keep up the good work! SeventyThree(Talk) 03:06, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Self-categorization

[edit] Cardinal Newman Catholic Secondary School

  • Hi. When re-writing a copyvio article, you should follow the instructions listed in the notice, specifically point 4 If you want to work on this article meanwhile, write a new article at the temporary subpage. The reason is that copyright violations are completely purged from Wikipedia, which means the article and all its history is removed. This will include your good edits. To avoid that, rewrite it at the subpage, as indicated in the notice, and once the article is deleted, the subpage will take its place. I hope this helps. Mindmatrix 02:27, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
    • Thanks. I'll do that. — (chubbstar) talk | contrib | 02:45, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
      • Good work. One small nitpick - don't do a copy/paste move of an article, like you did here by blanking the article, and pasting the content to Cardinal Newman Catholic Secondary School/Temp. Leave the page where it is until the copyright violation resolves - the administrator who resolves the issue will find the page and move it to the correct location. If you truly must move a page, use the "move" button - this will preserve the article's history, which is required for copyright and licensing issues. Mindmatrix 15:35, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Writers

  • Why have you removed the writing credits from LCD Soundsystem (album)? See [listing] for the format we use. Secretlondon 16:35, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
    • They looked incomplete and nowhere did they mention anything about what they were. I'll readd mention they are writing credits. So who writes the song that are blank?--(chubbstar) 18:57, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
      • Already figured it out. Sorry if you thhought i was just removing the credits for no reason, i had plans to go find my copies of the various singles and such to check the credits but i got sidetracked. Anyhoo, the credits are up in full now. --(chubbstar) 19:10, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your sig

The main problem you have with your sig is that the tags are not nested. Instead of

<span style="font-family: monospace; font-size: larger">[[User:(chubbstar)|<font style="border: solid 2px orange; background-color:
#991199" color=white>(chubbstar)]]</span></font> <small> — <font color="#FF4F00">talk</font> | <font
color="#FF4F00">contrib</font> | <font color="#CD00CD"> ~~~~~ </font></sup></small>

(copied from WP:SIGHELP's talk page), try

<span style="font-family: monospace; font-size: larger">[[User:(chubbstar)|<font style="border: solid 2px orange; background-color:
#991199" color=white>(chubbstar)</font>]]</span><small> — <font color="#FF4F00">talk</font> | <font
color="#FF4F00">contrib</font> | <font color="#CD00CD"> ,    (UTC) </font></small></sup>

which looks like: (chubbstar) talk | contrib | 11:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC). I've reordered the tags to be nested (wikicode and HTML tags have to be closed in the reverse order that they were opened), and changed the 11:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC) link (a special format for inserting sigs, which therefore can't be used in a sig) to templates. Note that as this sig contains the time, you'll have to sign ~~~ rather than ~~~~, and sigs that reformat the time may not be acceptable on automatically archived pages such as the administrator's noticeboard. Hope that helps, let me know if there are any problems. --ais523 11:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Make sure that the 'Raw signature' box is checked on Special:Preferences, and then sign using the sig here or on my talk page so I can see what's going on. --ais523 17:30, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
That looks like what happens if you don't check the 'Raw signature' check box. Are you absolutely sure that it's checked? Also, as the sig contains the date and time, you'll have to sign ~~~ rather than ~~~~. (I have a three-tilde sig; the code I use in my sig is
--ais523 ,

(UTC)
--ais523 17:40, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Got it! The first <font> tag has color=white in it; it should be color="white". (MediaWiki is very strict on invalid HTML in sigs). --ais523 17:55, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Testing on my sig:
<span style="font-family: monospace; font-size: larger"><font style="border: solid 2px orange; background-color:#991199" color="white">ais523</font></span><small> — <font color="#FF4F00">talk</font> | <font color="#FF4F00">contrib</font> | <font color="#CD00CD"> , (UTC)</font></small>
The problem may be with line breaks, so I've left the above all as one line for now. ais523 talk | contrib | 18:06, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Soulseek userbox

Looks pretty nice. I'd use it, but I just deleted 30 userboxes because of having too much. Using 21 userboxes is a nice number, I'd have to see if I could delete one.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chris83 (talkcontribs) 07:03, 27 July 2006 (UTC).

Thanks for the new Soulseek box! I'll remember it the next time I update my userbox page. --Merovingian - Talk 07:41, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:The chap band1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:The chap band1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 17:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

the game is up for deletion again. Rdore 02:41, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

  • It's gone, wiped from existence by some incredibly culture-ignorant administrator. The reasons for deletion were awful as well – of course it's not going to have many "creditable" sources or references, it's a game where the objective is to forget it exists! Hosting dedicated sites for such a game would be stupid... and was it ever in WP:DRV? - Rubberkeith 16:31, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Gorillazlogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Gorillazlogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 16:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:IATWTCpic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:IATWTCpic.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. [edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Pilate - Sell Control for Life's Speed.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Pilate - Sell Control for Life's Speed.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:11, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Mogwai_-_Ten_Rapid.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mogwai_-_Ten_Rapid.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:Lcdsoundsystemlive1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Lcdsoundsystemlive1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:16, 22 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih (talk) 03:16, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Abandin Theory

An editor has nominated Abandin Theory, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abandin Theory and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:59, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Abandin Theory

Another editor has added the prod template to the article Abandin Theory, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Sometimes What They Say Is Wrong Ain't Right

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Sometimes What They Say Is Wrong Ain't Right, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add db-author to the top of Sometimes What They Say Is Wrong Ain't Right. [edit] Image source problem with Image:Chinesestars1.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Chinesestars1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:NotSayingJustSaying.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:NotSayingJustSaying.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:37, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:YSPWSDlogo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:YSPWSDlogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
