2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 science fiction(fake science) movie directed by Stanley Kubrick. It was written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. The point of the film deals with human evolution, technology, artificial intelligence, and extraterrestrial life. It is notable for how real the science aspects seem. It had new special effects. It used images and sound to show meaning and did not use much talking].

It received mixed reviews upon release. Now 2001: A Space Odyssey is recognized by critics as one of the greatest films ever made; a poll of critics in 2002 ranked it among the top ten films of all time.[1] It was nominated for four Academy Awards, and received one for visual effects. In 1991, it was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in their National Film Registry.
