The North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey teams (men's and women's) are currently the only Division I sports at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The Sioux men have won seven Frozen Four NCAA Division I championships. The current men's head coach is former Sioux player Dave Hakstol and the current women's head coach is Brian Idalski. The public address announcer for the men's hockey team is Darrin Looker and the announcer for the women's hockey team is Josh Jones, with Max Huber filling on a as-needed basis. Local radio DJ Jon Roberts and Max Huber are former announcers for the women's team. Max Huber is also the current On-ice intermission personality for the men's hockey home games. His former emcee partner Katie O'Keefe has moved on to the Heartland Poker Tour.

The roots of the men's team go back to 1946. The Sioux men played in the WIHL until the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) was formed in 1951.
