[edit] About me

I am a college student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. My interests include computer science, in which I am majoring, mathematics, video games (although my interest is dwindling), and Star Trek. I used to be really into DDR, but now it's more of a past-time. Actually, I like In The Groove a good deal more, though I haven't gotten the chance to play it very much. I have created various and numerous programs, mostly for personal use.

[edit] Programming projects

[edit] OpenGL video tutorial

I was disappointed with the OpenGL tutorials out there, so I went ahead and made my own. It's located at videotutorialsrock.com. The focus is on video lessons teaching various aspects of OpenGL and 3D programming in general.

[edit] Civ89

I made Civ89, an open-source video game for the TI-89 / TI-92 / Voyage 200 graphing calculators that is based on Civilization II, along with an accompanying map / scenario / game editor. Compared to Civilization II, it is significantly watered down, but in many ways improved (in my opinion). There is more emphasis on the military aspects of the game. The combat system is different; attacking an enemy unit simply applies a certain amount of damage to that unit rather than destroying either the attacker or defender. Pretty fun, but unfortunately, it has no AI. Too bad I haven't had the opportunity to play it against anyone other than myself.

[edit] CalcChu

I made CalcChu, an open-source video game for the TI-89 / TI-92 / Voyage 200 graphing calculators that is based on ChuChu Rocket! The main difference is that it's two-player. I made a lot of it during downtime at work during summer of 2006. I find it to be quite fun. For some reason, I'm much better at it than everyone against whom I've played.

[edit] Future projects

These are programming projects that I hope to (but very well may not) complete.

  • A real-time strategy game, sort of a cross between Civilization and StarCraft. (Another game based on the Civilization series. Crazy, isn't it?) It will have a wide and deep tech tree, which is fairly original for games of the genre, as far as I know. As of July, 2007, my teammates and I have written 40,000 lines of C++ code for it.
  • A minigame website.

[edit] About my Wikipediaing

I very much appreciate Wikipedia, almost as much as I do Google. It is very useful and informative. I have learned much.

I discovered Wikipedia through Google. Summer 2004, when I decided to look up and learn a bunch of random stuff, Google constantly directed me to Wikipedia articles. I was rarely disappointed. I quickly came to realize that Wikipedia was an excellent starting point for almost any kind of information.

I have done a lot of editing in video gaming. Officially, I've been a member since December 5, 2004.
