[edit] New Conversions?

I wonder If I should add new ones nearing completion.

I'd say "no". Until it's released, it's vaporware. ⇔ ChristTrekker 22:19, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
I agree. I would hesitate adding any new scenarios at all unless you are willing to actually write a full section about them. There is barely any meat here as it is. MrHen. 21:19, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] please clean up!

I've started a cleanup/standardization process on this article. Specifically, I'd like to see all the scenario entries follow a common format: features with a handful of points about unique things other than storyline and weapons; storyline with a single-paragraph summary; and list of unique/modified weapons with a short description—a rehash of all the standard weapons isn't necessary. I've already stubbed these sections in. If you think you want to expand a scenario further than this, link the section heading to a new article and expand it there. This article is only an overview! ⇔ ChristTrekker 22:19, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

On second thought, I think features ought to be part of the scenario summary itself instead of a subsection. Otherwise there's not much to say there other than who created it and when. The page index gets awfully long with all those sections, too. ⇔ ChristTrekker 22:22, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
I would suggest only having the sections if there actually is anything to put in it. Scenarios that do not have custom weapons would only have one line in the section which really defeats the purpose of a section. MrHen. 21:10, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

External links to relevant the home pages of each scenario would be nice. MrHen. 21:19, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Some of these entries are waaaay too long for Wikipedia. This expanded information could be moved someplace Marathon-specific, but the level of detail is too much for this wiki. Summarize, summarize! ⇔ ChristTrekker 14:42, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

To this end, I'm whacking out the "new features" altogether. This can be summarized briefly in the scenario intro itself. ⇔ ChristTrekker 17:16, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reordering the list

I'd like to reorder the list of scenarios here to be roughly chronological and grouped by family relation, e.g. DiaBD & EMR, Evil, TI, Trojan, Rubicon, Red, Eternal, TGI & Sigma. Any objections? -Forrest

I didn't notice this post before, but I do think there are probably a few advantages to alphabetical order. For one thing, any passing stranger can glance at the list and see that it's correctly ordered; second, it's slightly more work if people have to look up the release date of a scenario they want to add; and third, there's some ambiguity in how "release date" is defined. It might mean the date of the first complete release, discounting demos and such, but do EMR M1 and Rubicon Standard really count as "complete", given the amount of content that was added in later versions? --DocumentN (talk) 20:56, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, whatever order it was in before certainly wasn't alphabetical - before my resort it was DiaBD, Eternal, M:Evil, EMR, M:TGI, Los DIsneys, PoS, M:Red, TI, and Trojan. Though, I suppose if you sort M:Evil by "E", M:TGI by "G", and M:Red and M:Rubicon by "R" (ignoring any "Marathon" prefixes or definite articles), it would be alphabetical; but that wasn't obvious to me until just now. Maybe if you displayed the names that way (e.g. "Gray Incident, The" instead of "Marathon: The Gray Incident") it would make more sense, but then that's slightly inaccurate, as some scenarios have "Marathon" in their titles and others explicitly don't. As for what to count as release date, I would say to count the release of the first full version (e.g. EMR for M1, the original release of Rubicon, etc), with sequels or spin-offs sub-sorted after them (so if TI2:TLL were to be listed here, it would be after TI, even if it came out after Trojan or Rubicon, which I don't recall off the top of my head). And it may be a pain to look up release dates for older scenarios, but considering that most new additions are probably going to be newer scenarios, and that it'd be good to know how old the older ones are anyway, I don't think that should be a major concern. --Pfhorrest (talk) 01:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Trojan

From current revision: "Trojan is a total conversion scenario for the Mac OS Marathon 1 game engine." I don't want to take the time to fix the article now, but it should probably mention that there's also a Marathon 2 port that can be used with Aleph One (albeit buggily). --DocumentN 17:47, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Kronos-repair.jpg

Image:Kronos-repair.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
