Hello, my name is Erwin and I'm 23 years od. I'm from Miami, Florida. I was born in Havana, Cuba. I love to learn about any and every topic. I love history. I'm studying Multimedia Design at the ITT Technical Institute in Miami.
Residence
I currently reside in Miami, Florida. I grew up in Hialeah, Florida until a few years ago when I moved to Live Oak, FL. I didn't like it there so I came back to the south. I like this city because of it's diversity and location. I DON'T like it because of its weather, climate (see hurricanes!), and traffic!
Hobbies
My hobbies include Web development (php, MySQL, CSS), Web Design, playing the guitar (Ibanez RG-170), videogames (Roller Coaster Tycoon, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto Series, Bosconian, and Pac Man, among others), flying kites, and RC Vehicles.
Education
I've always been interested in learning and education. This is what my parents taught me from a young age. I love to learn about any subject imaginable. I have always done very poorly in school. I get bored of monotonous routines and soon find myself thinking about ideas and problems. ADD, if you ask me, huh? Haha.
Middle school
In Middle school I chose to take a Television Production class because it was a subject I knew little about and arroused my interest. It continued for two years; then through four more of High school.
High school
High school was a trip for me. For every week, I was in class about 2 or three days. I was usually roaming the halls or in the studio. I also tried Stagecraft for two years, something which I am very fond of as well. I worked on some Student films and minor productions for a bit. I was never sure of what to do after High school.
College
I begun my career studies in Film production at Miami-Dade College in 2003 but soon changed my mind and continued on with Mass communications/Journalism. This soon failed too, as I saw it leading me nowhere. I considered Photography and Business management for a while until I decided on a more solid future in Web Development and design, something which I had done before.
Present
I am currently studying at ITT Tech in Miami. My major is I.T. Multimedia. I'm going for an Associate's but that may change depending on the level and quality of education I received there over the next few months.
Future
I plan to graduate from ITT on June, 2007 with a degree in Multimedia. I then plan to go on to get a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Florida in Gainesville, University of Miami, or Florida International University in Miami. These are all very very likely to change since it's early on and I'm always shooting for more. I might return to the pursuit of Film or Video production.
Employment
I've worked in many places and done nothing important but it's what I've done and it's what has paid the bills. I worked as a cashier at Burger King for 3 months in 2000 but left because... well, it was B.K...
I had a job at Quizno's Sub in 2004 making subs. I was there for like 4 or 5 months then I moved to Live Oak where I was not employed. I returned to Miami for 2 months and went back to Quizno's for that time.
When I moved back to Live Oak I worked as a Cook for a Denny's franchise in Madison (near the capital, Tallahassee). I hated it there because, although everyone was nice, it only paid $6.50 per hour. After little over 6 months I wuit in March of 2005.
I went looking for work closer to home in Live Oak. I found it in Golden Corral. That was the nastiest, most disgusting kitchen I have ever been in. The people (most of them) were assholes, specially the management. So I left before 2 months.
I worked with my dad in the farm for a few weeks before I moved back to Miami. When I got here, I went to America's Dust Busters, a carpet and uniform cleaning company that serves Miami-Dade County Public Schools and restaurants and superparkets. The owner was extremely driven and a great man, whom I learned many work ethics from. But I couldn't handle the hard manual work, so I left after just 4 days. HAHA.
I then went straight to Denny's again. I got paid $12.50 per hour and it was a pretty good overall job. But a few weeks into the job, they started to cut everyone's hours. The last week I was there I had 16 scheduled hours. I couldn't afford rent so I moved out of the place I was in.
I got a job at Domino's in Miami Lakes as a pizza delivery boy (YAY, I'm a delivery boy!!!). It wasn't fuel efficient for me since I drive an SUV (Isuzu Trooper) so I left less than 2 months into it.
Haha. As of March, 2006 I work at Super Target in Miramar and it's going great. :)
